  1. Finally got around to watching this, I liked it about as much as I expected to, it had some really funny moments, Ryan Reynolds was really good, as was Morena Baccarin. and the action was really good, if a little too violent for the sake of violence, which it's deadpool so I get it, just not really my thing. I really didn't like how the X-Men were incorporated into this, Colossus and Negasonic felt really cheap and cartoony. although the "It's almost like they didn't have the budget for more X-Men" joke was great. villain was super meh too. but it was enjoyable enough B+
  2. Ben-Hur, Warcraft, Ghostbusters.
  3. really good article. I think the last part of it pretty much nailed why DC isn't working so far.
  4. Nope they both had pretty strong arguments, Steve time and time again has seen what happens when they let the governments, aka people with agendas try to control the actions of the avengers, if you remember in The Avengers, the council that Fury was talking to couldn't even agree on what could be done when Loki attacked New York and and they also agreed to nuke the chatarri through the portal when Iron Man was still there. they also had weapons they started developing from Loki scepter, behind the avengers backs, which he found out about that is two pretty strong reasons right there. Where it not for the scientist who found Steve and personally vouched for him to be the super-soldier experiment, he never would have become captain America in the first place. in the Winter Soldier, Hydra had been infiltrating SHIELD for decades right under their nose, which were it not for Steve breaking the law and taking down Hydra, they would have succeeded in completely overthrowing SHIELD. he would be crazy at this point to sign something that 117 different nations each with different agendas wanted. He was conflicted on the matter and he did acknowledge that there was destruction, some of which they caused. but were it not for their quick actions the entire world would be pretty much enslaved or dead. and he was conflicted about it, he even went as far as almost signing the contract AFTER bucky was arrested. and I think he knew bucky was dangerous, he at least partially responsible and knew he was Bucky's only hope, he also saw that bucky was a major victim of what happens when corrupt higher powers intervene. As For Tony, he had almost the opposite things happen, although I must admit his motivations were slightly less clear and based heavily on his own guilt. He built Ultron by himself and ultron ended trying to destroy the whole world. he also saw the vision of the entire avengers fallen before his eyes, and felt it was something he was responsible for, he went off the deepend on numerous occasions (Drinking and being irresponsible in IM2, was a total playboy in IM ect..).. the damage in Wauconda and the woman who blamed him for the death of her son was just the final nail in the coffin. although toward the end he was even starting to see that signing the petition to work with the government had major repercussions, him complaining about not being able to have is armor when Bucky got loose. and finally seeing TWS wasn't responsible for the bombing in Wauconda and T'Challa father's death. he was stricken with revenge once he saw the video of WS killing his parents. and it was very emotional imo. I don't know man, maybe you need to see the avengers films again.
  5. Yes, but they would both lose a ton of their audience, as much hate as their seems to be between DC and Marvel fans, they still see mostly see each others movies. Best case scenario your probably looking at: Civil War $125m OW BvS $107m OW
  6. Wow good write up I thought I was reading BOM's write up at first. Also Chris Evan's made nearly $7m for AoU. did he seriously not get a raise for this?
  7. Captain America: The Winter Soldier Guardians of the Galaxy Ant-Man Avengers: Age of Ultron Thor: The Dark World Iron Man 3
  8. Actually it was sold as both, me being a true Captain America fan. I felt the trailers looked very much like a Captain America film and it felt very personal and character driven, but they added enough major players like Iron Man and Spider-Man, along with the Civil War storyline to get people to see it who are not as crazy about Captain America. Anyways enough talking about this let's move on.
  9. I never said it would make $180m without Iron Man. that still doesn't make it not a Captain America film. studios do things like that all the time to movies to add $$$
  10. I agree, if this was a directed Sequel to Age of Ultron it would still be impressive. especially considering it's middling WoM. in fact if it were a direct sequel released one year later it may have even made less!
  11. It's not just a Captain America movie sure, but it is still his story, the tone is way more WS then Avengers. Captain America is kind of leading the Avengers now.. so it makes sense they would be there. sure it is a bit of a hybrid. but you can't call this a direct Avengers movie either. plus Thor and Hulk aren't in it.
  12. I think it will, it's already had a very back loaded OW. and I really think they are underestimating it a bit. it has phenomenal WoM. if it holds as well as WS it would make $491m. not only that it has already outgrossed the First Avengers entire run in one weekend. it also has the biggest opening of 2016 by over $15m and I highly doubt anything will open higher, anyone who thinks this opening is disappointing is crazy. And call it what you will but Captain America now holds to record for biggest Solo (ish) Superhero opening of all time!
  13. Winter Soldier is better than the comic, haven't read civil war yet so I can't say.
  14. I keep saying that, aside from the title it does not have the same mass appeal that brought people to SW7, it's not even elseworld story exactly. It looks and feels very much like a spin-off. I still am excited for it and want to see it, but this movie is not doing anything near TFA numbers.
  15. Captain America: Civil War $465,000,000 Rogue One: A Star Wars Story $450,000,000 Finding Dory $425,000,000 Deadpool $362,000,000 The Jungle Book $338,000,000 Zootopia $333,000,000 Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice $329,000,000 Suicide Squad $300,000,000 Moana $290,000,000 The Secret Life of Pets $275,000,000 Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them $260,000,000 Passengers $250,000,000 Jason Bourne $240,000,000 Independence Day: Resurgence $235,000,000 X-Men: Apocalypse $215,000,000 Doctor Strange $200,000,000 Star Trek Beyond $175,000,000 Assassin's Creed $170,000,000 Alice Through the Looking Glass $165,000,000 Sing $160,000,000
  16. Uncharted and Bad Boys III will not make those dates, sadly I'm not sure if Uncharted will get made at all.
  17. It's still possible I suppose. that is probably the max multiplier I could see it having, Tele has a point, this movie had a ton of upfront demand and it has a competitive next few weeks coming up. even I can't see it having a 3x multiplier, though. but 2.7x? maybe it's about what WS had.
  18. it isn't but everyone blow it out from proportion with hype. including BO analysists. I guess there is some superhero fatigue after all. I wonder if it would have opened higher if BvS was better received...
  19. although I never thought $225m was going to happen, I was silently rooting for that club. oh well, at least we got an amazing movie.
  20. I agree, but I just wonder how most audiences perceived it. considering my dad asked if Superman was in it, I'm pretty sure for most casual movie goers it would have had to have Avengers in the title in order for them to see it as such. which in that case having a 90% increase from WS is insane. and I honestly don't think this would have opened bigger if it were called Iron Man 4, either IM3 had really middling WoM and a sequel would have almost certainly seen a drop.
