  1. As long as they're as good as The Dark Knight/Dark Knight Rises I don't mind them. Whedon's joky Avengers doesn't even come close to Nolan's films and it's a shame it outgrossed TDKR because The Avengers, aside from the Hulk character and some of the action sequences, just goes through the motions with an incredibly generic ending Michael Bay of all directors already did better a year earlier.
  2. Any Saturday estimates? Wondering how H&G did today vs. yesterday.
  3. Mama reminded me of that movie in that the look of the titular character was similar to the tooth fairy creation in DF.
  4. I'm probably seeing this tonight at 7:50. Pray for me
  5. Who is Ben Fritz? Movie 43's CinemaScore is terrible though I kind of expected an F after all the reviews.
  6. How much could those numbers change I wonder? That would be pretty disappointing for H&G if it doesn't even make 7M.
  7. One of the best trailers I've ever seen. Even won some awards for being so awesome.
  8. Why would a sequel have to cost 50M? There's no reason they couldn't make it for half that.
  9. Everyone is talking about TLS but Broken City is just as much of a bomb. Something starring Wahlberg and Crowe should be opening to 20M, not 8.2M.
  10. Fox has pulled Ben & Kate from the schedule, replacing it with an additional Raising Hope episode for the time being.
  11. Really liked it. Will be bummed if the ratings are poor.
  12. I can't believe Lionsgate never changed the marketing for TLS given the recent school shooting. Featuring a school bus in the poster and TV spots is just dumb.
  13. Why wasn't Showgirls a hit? Femme Fatale? Jennifer's Body? Chloe? The list goes on. Men don't care if a movie has an attractive woman in it. They need another reason to see it outside of that. For me, TCM 3D is an example. I would see it regardless of who was in it since it's a horror film. The casting was just a bonus. If they want to look at said woman, that's what the Internet is for. Women apparently don't other than to swoon at Gosling, Tatum, Songz, etc. because they apparently, haven't heard of said Internet.
  14. Well, then women, both white and black, like losers. One features a high-pitched nasally whine and the other, well the other calls himself Trey f-ing Songz, what else do you need to know? Ape-like dum-dum model Channing Tatum isn't any better.
  15. But as a slasher, a genre known for its gore and attractive and scantily-clad females, for it to be more of a draw for women than men in spite of the two aforementioned facets, is kind of surprising.
  16. The top movies thus far this year have all drawn more women than men as I don't have the data yet for Mama but since it's a horror film, it most likely sold more tickets to women than men as even Texas Chainsaw 3D did (52 to 48%) and it's a slasher more likely to draw men. Zero Dark Thirty drew more women as well and looking back at last year, you had huge hits like Magic Mike, The Hunger Games, Twilight, and The Vow that all were heavily skewed towards women.Men seem to only see the big event films as The Avengers was 60-40 in favor of males. Outside of a select few like that film, women seem to outnumber men going to movies quite a bit. You can have a hit without drawing men but you can't without drawing women at least some. The Vow had like a 70-30 split in women's favor. You can't have that with a male skewing film and have it actually be a hit. It'll be interesting to see the split on The Last Stand, if we even do. I bet it has something like the 70-30 in favor of males. Lo and behold, it's a huge flop. Why is this? Are men just more preoccupied/interested in watching sports and video games? Do women have more free time?
  17. Whatever the genre, he could do Arnold a favor and cast him in one of his patented career resurrection projects.
  18. So what happens with The Tomb and Ten, Arnold's already filmed movies waiting for release? I assume The Tomb could be fine since it has Stallone and their team-up could be a draw. Jim Caviezel is in it too and he's the star of a hit TV show and, oh yeah, he's Jesus, which always helps Ten though looks like it's in trouble. It's costar is the equally if not more wooden Sam Worthington who is most famous for a movie in which he played a big blue smurf
  19. Don't tell me we're going to have to wait hours more until Rth chimes in with his very accurate (but, as a result, very late) numbers.
  20. Yep, that seems like a good reason for it. January is almost better for horror films (at least Opening Weekend) than October though the lead-up to Halloween generally allows for better legs.Sunday is probably going to be quite low for everything though, right? Two games likely to get over 40M viewers airing on TV that day.
  21. Will the horrid opening for The Last Stand put a premature end to Arnold's comeback attempt? Who would be dumb enough to bankroll a big budget film with him as the star when it's now likely to flop in at least one of the main markets for a movie? They can't still be serious about making that new Conan the Barbarian film after this...
  22. She will by the end of the series if they even make more. And Mara did a great job so she was the right choice.
