  1. Ugh. While I haven't been to Universal Hollywood in quite some time, I was just in Orlando this past February and I noticed how shockingly inadequate Universal's "security check" there was. They were just concerned with getting people through, not checking the bags.
  2. As discussed before, the ethnic diversity of the FF movies has had a major hand in it becoming so big I'm sure. There is really no other alternative for blockbusters with a cast of that diversity. You'd think Hollywood would take note.
  3. Tokyo Drift came out in summer '06 and opened to $23m, the same summer Dead Man's Chest broke the then opening weekend record. If you had told me then that a decade later the Fast and Furious franchise would be pulling DMC OWs I would have had to believe that the ticket inflation rate had gone up about 500%. Hell, I wouldn't have believed back then the franchise would even get a 4th installment.
  4. Haven't been around much lately and came here tonight bummed to see that it looked like the game had already started. Glad to hear those are just a pre pre-season bonus! At any rate, I will continue to be stubborn and refuse to accept the summer movie season starting before the first weekend of May, Hollywood scheduling be damned!
  5. If Home out-opens Dragon 2 I'm officially losing all faith in this generation of children.
  6. True, but if any studio can pull a $200m+ budget that makes you ask "how?!?" it's Disney. Shocked at their restraint on this one.
  7. Had no idea Cinderella's budget was so "cheap." Thought it was $200m just like all the other Disney live action fairy tales. They're gonna clean up with this one.
  8. I wonder if the older demo is checking it out cause of him? Although I definitely wouldn't expect them to like it that much, lol.
  9. Considering Kingsman has a very similar tone to Vaughn's Kick-Ass, I'm surprised it's holding so well. I would think it would be too polarizing like KA was.
  10. But the most successful of the nominees did win, so once again it does seem they basically just give it to the highest grossing. I feel like aside from a small passionate faction in the Academy, most of them have next to no respect for the category and pay it no attention most years. Hence why they just vote for what's popular or a brand name (used to be Pixar now it seems to be WDA). It's like an award they just want to get out of the way without having to spend any time actually judging.
  11. Nothing "hammy" at all about squawking like a bird and talking like the cookie monster.
  12. I will say it is nice all the BP nominees got an award this year. That way I guess everyone can at least be a little happy for their favorite.
  13. Keaton is vomit inducing to me as an actor and how he comes off as a person. I can't stand him on the whole and I'm elated that I no longer have to look at his punch worthy face so much now that this awards season is over. All that said he gave a good performance in Birdman, but it got so over-hyped and overblown that an Oscar on top of it all would have shot it into the stratosphere on the all time overrated performances list. Also my opinions aren't there to be "edgy" and "cynical" They're there to be my opinions and that's it.
  14. Birdman is such a silly film. But the Oscars are rather silly anymore, so it fits I suppose. Shitty show overall. Only true highlights were Glory performance followed by Glory win and Budapest's surprise score win, the category it most deserved of all. Also Keaton not winning was a highlight. Overrated performance by an overrated actor who wouldn't have cared about the award anyways and joked it off. Good riddance he wasn't given his supposed "due."
  15. Not Boyhood's biggest fan, but even I think Linkater was robbed. There also probably went his first and last chance to win an Oscar.

  17. One thing I'll say about tomorrow: if Birdman really can manage to win BP/BD then there's no way Keaton is losing.
  18. My second favorite film of 2014, behind Budapest. The other 4 are not even remotely close to the masterpiece status of Kaguya. Saw Song of the Sea tonight, and might be my second fav of the bunch but still nowhere near Kaguya.
  19. It recently occurred to me that Redmayne's performance is essentially My Left Foot DDL lite....
  20. Add in Blackhat, Wedding Ringer, Black or White, and Project Almanac to those 5 and we have 9 sub 40% wide releases this month. Has any month ever had more?
  21. Oh there's some major dumping going on alright. Add Taken 3, Strange Magic, The Loft, Boy Next Door, and Mortdecai together on RT and you still don't get Man of Steel's rotten percentage.
  22. It would have to span like 3 LOTR trilogies to be any good. And G.R.R.M. would have to, you know, finish writing it...
  23. 50% drop for AS from last Friday? ba ba ba ba bum... It might seem crazy what I'm bout to say. Sunshine she's here, you can take a break. I'm a hot air balloon that could go to space. With the air, like I don't care, baby by the way BECAUSE I'M HAPPY!!!
