  1. Yep, people are busy this week, next week will give a better picture.
  2. To be honest, i have never actually been THAT keen on Blade Runner. I like the film but very much like 2001, i feel that its beautiful looking but quite slow and boring in parts. I would welcome another one and you can only imagine how amazing the city scenes will look today.
  3. Why do you always bold out your text?, do you think it makes you more important or something?.
  4. I can't remember what the numbers were like last year on the week up to Christmas but surely people are busy with Christmas now, people still in work, people still doing shopping etc, the weekend and mainly next week is when the numbers should be good.
  5. I was just about to say thats a terrible number until i realised it was for Midnights, i thought it was for the whole day!.
  6. I must admit that i wasn't keen on the first movie, i saw the trailers and tv spots etc and i thought it was going to be very similar to 'Young Sherlock Holmes' in style and tone but it wasn't.
  7. I think the younger generation would go though you're probably right on the tradition sense.
  8. Damn when you look at it like that, you're probably right. There seems to be a lot more event movies next year than most years.
  9. Yeah same here. Its a strange one really as i can imagine that cinemas here in the UK would be full if they opened Christmas Day, i know my friends and family would be going and probably catching a couple of films at least.
  10. Its a lot different in the US though, we don't even open Christmas day here in the UK!.
  11. Damn Fast Five was a monster, how come Fast and Furious isn't on the list?, did Fast Five really make more than twice as much?.
  12. I don't agree about the decline of 3D. Give the audience a film they want to see in 3D and they will, AVATAR 2 will prove that. The problem with 3D for me is that there are so many films in 3D now that simply don't need it (Drive Angry etc) and people won't pay the extra for any old movie, it has to be a movie that will transport them to a 'new world' with exotic and amazing scenery etc, a film that will take them on a rollercoaster of a ride, not some comedy or cop film or something, they don't need 3D.
  13. Die Hard, we always watch it every Christmas. There are many other Christmas films i like and there is one film that i always think is a Christmas movie but is actually a thanksgiving movie and thats Planes, Trains and Automobiles, that would be up there with Die Hard if it was a Christmas movie of course!.
  14. I don't really get the question as none of them are the biggest domestic blockbuster in terms or gross, i guess you're asking which is the best film out of those choices?, if so the TDK.
  15. Judgement Night - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107286/Great film imo and something that could literaly happen to any of us.
  16. In terms of geeks and geek sci-fi fans, i'd have to say AVATAR would have to be up there. I remember it being talked about on forums 5 years before it came out and thats unheared of for an orig movie.
  17. Say what you want about Stallones version but at least it looked great, Mega City one looked fantastic, this version looks terrible and almost what you would expect from a tv series version. This will bomb bad imo, maybe even worse than Stallones version.$17mil ow. $40mil total.
  18. 2011 version -An average but not terrible film that sufers from the lack of tension and brooding atmosphere that Carpenters version had.The new version also has a problem with cgi, bad cgi. Some scenes like when the girl transforms look pretty good but nearly all the rest of the cgi looks average to god awful and results in very little fear from the viewer as its too obvious that the thing is simply not there unlike Carpenters version which has practical effects that still look awesome and terrifying (on the whole).Another problem that occurs from having the Thing as cgi is that the Thing now moves so fast all over the place, it lacks the tension involved in Carpenters version. This happens a lot in modern cgi remakes like the tension filled Medusa scene in the orig version of Clash of the Titans compared to the super speedy, terrible looking Medusa on acid in the remakeAlso i remember a rumour from ages ago that the film was going to be PG13 and you can see those PG13 routes in the film as there is a distinct lack of blood and gore, even from the creature as its splitting open and transforming, what little blood there is there from the kills is yet again bad looking cgi. Thanks so much to the director who 'promised' that 70% of the effects would be practical and that cgi would only be used to add bits here and there, it shows you that you can't trust these people and they only spout shite to try and please the hardcore fans. One thing the film does pretty well though is have nods to the Carpenter version all over the place like the axe that Kurt Russel sees in the Norweigen (sp?) base stuck in the wall, you get to see how it got there, and how they explain the deformed 2 headed corpse that they found out in the fire. These little nods are very nice if you are a fan of the orig Carpenter film. All in all i'd give The Thing 2011 a 6.5/10, it could of been a lot better but it could of also been a hell of a lot worse!.
  19. Yeah i said the same when it was first released. The movie was set up very much like Titanic with the first 2 thirds a love story and the last third all out action, it was one of the reasons why i had that feeling that it may just challenge Titanic and it was obvious to me that Cameron knew he had so many eyes on him after being out for so long and having his last film being Titanic that Cameron took a lot of what made people connect with Titanic and put that into AVATAR.
  20. Its Cameron so it will probably be close to 3 hours long so they won't have quite as many showings as they would for a 2 hour movie. Plus AVATAR maybe the biggest movie of all time but its not really a 'geek' film like Twilight or Harry Potter so there won't be quite as big a rush to see it opening weekend. With the movie coming out at Christmas there will probably be a lot of competition from other films and probably family films which will also take away screens no matter how big AVATAR is expected to be, all imo of course.
  21. The last i heared was that Cameron was aiming for 60fps, i think that level of smoothness will bring films to life as much or more than 3d. No doub't in my mind that AVATAR 2 will be just as revolutionary as the first film.
  22. God its such a hard film to predict, total and opening weekend. On the old forums i always said that i don't think AVATAR 2 could beat the $760mil of the first but i did think it would gross more than the first internationaly. I'm not so sure it will come under the firsts US total now. AVATAR 2 will probably open in the region of about $150mil and then it would only need 5x legs to match the firsts total and 5x legs is half of the 10x legs the first film had. Now if Cameron gives us his usual sequel quality then i don't see any reason why the film will lose more than half its legs so a total beating the first film is not out of the question at all, especialy over Christmas and the new year where it may well of already earned $400mil plus by the start of Jan!.
  23. In my top 10 of all time list. Its a fabulous movie that takes you to another world better than any other film. Its also a film that seems so much better if you connect with the Naavi and their way of life. Cameron just has this nack of making films that connect with so many people.
  24. I have waaay too many favorite films to list and i would forget some as well so i'll just post my favorite - ALIENS, the best sci-fi, best action and best war movie ever made!.....imo of course.
