  1. Weekend June 1st-3rd (provisional): 1. Solo: €1.2m (-37%) 2. Deadpool 2: €0.8m (-33%) 3. Campeones: €0.4m (-16%) 4. Infinity War: €0.3m (-17%) 5. Truth or dare: €0.3m (-12%) Obviously, the Champions League final affected last weekend. Drops are extremely soft. Promotion for Jurassic World 2 is being massive on Mediaset TV channels (big media group), like happened with every Bayona previous film (The Orphanage, The Impossible and A Monster Calls). JW was already big (€22m), but we could see enormous figures for the sequel in Spain.
  2. Agreed. Unless China explodes, I do not see so enormous numbers. 450-550, depending mostly on China behaviour.
  3. Weekend May 25-27 (there is not weekend admissions info available):
  4. I think it has a chance. Just for the fun, I am IN
  5. I have found a curious data: Age of Ultron was the 10th film making 1 billion Yuan (I take into account Titanic). Infinity War has been the 10th film making 2 billion Yuan Jurassic World was the 11th film making 1 billion Yuan Could JW2 be the 11th making 2 billion?
  6. 2015 Ultron: 1.46b Yuan ($228m with today ER) JW: 1.42b Yuan ($221m)
  7. I guess that Champions League final has affected everything. It had 9.3 million TV audience, 20% of the population.
  8. Weekend May 25th-27th (provisional): 1. Solo: €1.8m 2. Deadpool 2: €1.1m (-66%) 3. Campeones: €0.4m (-39%) 4. Infinity War: €0.3m (-59%) 5. Truth or dare: €0.3m (-44%)
  9. Since we still do not have any film that had done 1 billion in a single market, we can look at those films which have done it with 2 markets. And for the moment there is just one film doing it: TFA. It has six different combinations (USA + UK or China or Germany or Japan or France or Australia). IW will become the second one doing it with USA + China.
  10. I have not seen the film yet, but I feel some happiness with this disappointment (let's wait to call it failure). I am fed up with this endless exploitation of every franchise.
  11. IW was benefited by Fiesta del Cine (2.90 € tickets during 7-9 May period). It sold about 500k or 600k during those days. And average ticket price of the market is about 6.70 €.
  12. Weekend May 18-20 Edit: AVG 6.71 € is the average ticket price of the whole top 20 during the weekend.
  13. Infinity War (1.989b at this moment) has outgrossed TF4 (1.977b). TF4 leaves top 10 after nearly 4 years.
  14. A Doraemon film already did $86m in China in 2015. It does not imply that this one will repeat that result, but it is not impossible for a film like this to make good numbers.
  15. It has dropped so high this weekend because of Deadpool release. Upcoming weekends should hold better.
  16. Out of likes, but terrific thread @Auteur Panda Thank you very much for your hard work Concerning list, shocked and really glad to see FOTR and TDK on top. I had used to see ESB and Raiders on top, but while I love both, I prefer others in those sagas (A new hope and Last Crusade). FOTR is my favorite modern film and the one of the trilogy who best catch the novel. It is the perfect blockbuster and my best experience in a theater. I absolutely love the trilogy, but FOTR is special. I have it at #6 spot, but since my top 5 are older films, which do not use to be so massively liked here, I am very glad with the result.
  17. Spain is recovering, but slowly. It is still far from the 2004 peak (140 million admissions). We barely cross 100 million now, but it is true that we come from very dark years with even less than 90 million admissions (barely 2 per person and year) because of economical crisis. In terms of gross, the market is making the same amount of money than 15 years ago. Getting back to topic and concerning SH genre, IW is already the most attended SH film since Raimi's Spider-man trilogy (it has had a considerable boost in terms of admissions thanks to Fiesta del Cine). But it is true that SH genre is still a step (or two steps) behind the biggest franchises, like LOTR, Harry Potter, Star Wars or even POTC. As @titanic2187 has said, Spain is able to make big grosses independently of the crisis (8 apellidos vascos sold in the middle of the crisis the same amount of admissions than Avatar). Could IW be an inflection point for the genre here? I do not think so. It is just that it is not a genre so beloved as it is in other countries. And I guess the same happens in other European markets. That's all.
  18. Top 5 Weekend (provisional): 1. Deadpool 2: €3.1m 2. Infinity War: €0.7m 3. Campeones: €0.6m 4. Truth or dare: €0.5m 5. Sherlock Gnomes: €0.4m
  19. You are right. We should take into account both factors. I do not have data available right now (posting from cellular), but Spain would not reach $100m. 9.5 million admissions with a 6.8€ ticket (last weekend average) means less than $80m today. Another debate is the 3D ratio we should apply. And I do not know if Russia inflation of last 8-9 years is enough to compensate the +50% drop of Ruble relative to 2009. I insist that I am not trying to deny nothing to Avatar, but to put into context IW figures around the world.
  20. Sure, Avatar was way bigger in the biggest markets. It still ranks as the biggest grosser in many markets. In Spain, it is an incredible 40% higher than the second one, having sold both films basically the same amount of admissions. Said this, just to say that with today ERs, Avatar would not have those 10 markets over $100m (Spain, Russia, Australia and maybe South Korea would had not reached that amount). Or on the other side, Infinity War would have more than 2 with Avatar's ER (Brazil, Mexico and UK for sure. And South Korea would be bordering it). Avatar is one of the most benefited films ever because of this factor. But I agree and it is obvious that Avatar was a phenomenon very difficult to repeat. It is the second most impressive run ever. No doubt about it. Because all of us know which is the most impressive... I just wanted to point that IW is making big numbers in many markets, not to say that it is closer to Avatar than it really is.
  21. Number of markets over $20m: Avatar: 18 markets Infinity War: 16 Titanic: 16 TFA: 13 IW could still reach 17 thanks to Hong Kong (Hong Kong $19.6m, Thailand $17.7m, Malaysia $16.9m)
  22. Yes, for the moment, Avatar 2 is the only probable option to go so high
  23. I could recommend you many from Spain. I will choose 4 or 5: My favorite is Plácido (1962). Absolute masterpiece. Maybe too local, but it is one of the best comedies I have ever seen and it shows how was the life during the Franco's dictatorship. It was nominated both to Foreign Language Oscar and to Golden Palm in Cannes. More recent films: - Pellet (2000): About violence at home against children. Great and very necessary film. - Mondays in the sun (2002): Reality of unemployment. Drama with some humour. Maybe, the best role of Javier Bardem. - The sea inside (2004): About euthanasia. Maybe, again, the best role of Bardem. Aclaimed worldwide. It won the Oscar, Golden Globe, ... - Cell 211 (2009): Centered in a prison mutiny. Action, drama and suspense. Very good. 97% in RT. - Perfectos desconocidos (2017): Hilarous comedy. A recent success.
