  1. They don't. They just wanted to stay ahead of Wondy for the outlets covering the estimates (also see Rogue One vs. Hidden Figures in January).
  2. The lead actresses have arrived in Boston where filming is to take place and seem to be bonding well.
  3. It was Universal's project. SC apparently wanted to shoot it underwater so she overshot the budget. Her temporary attachment to the project did inspire this one Funny or Die! video featuring AnnaSophia Robb and Evan Peters.
  4. He said Kraven and Mysterio are appearing in other projects. This is from the THR article: So I dunno, maybe they are getting solo movies after all. Crazy as hell but could be fun.
  5. It's amusing how many parallels can be drawn between TLM and WW. Not just in the fact that Ariel inspired Diana's characterization to a degree and that they paid homage to the beach scene, but everything down to how both films were in limbo for decades, both were underestimated for featuring female leads and mainly targeting girls/women, both followed financially successful albeit critically panned predecessors, and both ended up breaking out like crazy and received a ton of accolades. Not to take away from Patty's hard work and all the credit she has been receiving (and which she more than deserves), but I wish Allan Heinberg got a little more recognition. It was his decision to use Ariel as one of the templates for Diana's character journey, and I think that in no small part has really contributed to audiences connecting to the latter princess in a manner very few people had anticipated.
  6. Don't forget the Transformer dogs humping Megan Fox's leg. You can't say the film wasn't ambitious. It was determined to drill through the lowest common denominator and end up even lower.
  7. She didn't say "hate". She said she was mostly bummed out because back then it looked like the franchise had moved on without her and she had been hoping to do it for a long time. She did say that she wouldn't have considered actresses from outside America though. So yeah, it's safe to credit Snyder for picking GG.
  8. Doesn't really matter tho as in that parallel universe, the world ended with a zombie apocalypse and the Fresh Prince was the last man left in the Big Apple.
  9. And with that, Wondy passes Logan and F8 to enter 2017's Top 3 DOM (so far) in just 13 days.
  10. Even if it's true (which I doubt), it's not quite the sky is falling kind of development. Maybe he can be a charlatan foreigner like Oz and "Jafar" could just be his Sultan given name.
  11. They have a cast and production date is supposed to be early July. The film is also supposed to buck superhero conventions and be more "horror" in tone (with Josh Boone confirming there won't be traditional elements like supervillains and costumes). Also, Fox's marketing strategy isn't as aggressive as Marvel, DC or even Sony. They drop one teaser trailer six months in advance, and then there will be some light viral marketing for a couple of months or so and then three months pre-release, the second trailer will arrive. Marketing picks up in the last two months pre-release. In the case of First Class though, the first trailer didn't arrive until just four months pre-release.
  12. I'm curious about how Japan receives WW. I think it has potential to surprise. When is the release date?
  13. It would have been completely terrible for Tom Cruise if his summer blockbuster's OS OW at the least didn't beat the OS OW of a film starring... Gal Gadot. Also, WW pleasantly surprised in a lot of foreign markets where the film wasn't even promoted that much, India being one prominent example I found out about (though that's WB's fault too for not realizing they had such a big breakout on their hands). If WW had been marketed in international regions the way Sony markets Spider-Man movies in Asia then there's no telling how much bigger the OS ## would have been. Still, less marketing means more profits for Wondy. Dunno if I can say the same for The Mummy.
  14. So Wonder Woman beat Baywatch last weekend? Surprising. I thought BW's OS popularity and Priyanka Chopra's presence would help boost its performance. I think WB should have released dubbed versions of WW. The interest seemed to have been there.
  15. I dunno, the underworld and the Dia de los Muertes cemetery scenes just look like CGI-ed takes from The Book of Life. In fact the skeletal figures looked far more dynamic and effective in stop motion. Here they just seem kinda bland and awkward.
  16. The interesting thing is that there's another incredibly leggy diva's sequel coming out that very month. But Elsa perfectly co-existed with Katniss the last time around, and she may do the same with Wondy if both sequels are received anywhere close to their predecessors. The only hitch is the possibility of Episode 9 being shifted to December like Episode 8 this year, especially now that there's no Avatar 2 to contend with. I think Han Solo's performance next summer will be used as a deciding factor for Disney/Lucasfilm regarding Ep 9's release date.
