F&F 4 to 7 were insane. Heck Tokyo Drift is the only real spoiler in the trajectory of the first 7 films.

I actually think the hordes of Tiktok teens inflated its numbers, especially DOM. Wouldn't be shocked if M3 suffers a DM3 type drop unless it's Illumination's best work ever.

Minions 2 being good is debatable but it's definitely an improvement over the original so it's interesting it didn't crack 1B like the first one despite being enormously helped by Tiktok trends. Even Illumination can't keep being inconsistent any longer as it will have an impact (it already did before with DM3's performance domestically and SLoP2).

The internetz bashed her for unprofessionalism so this is her probly overcompensating. But it makes no sense attacking critics as that could come back to bite her big time. Also, Jenna Ortega became the breakout Latina star that everyone expected RZ to be post West Side Story so girl needs to get her shit together fast.

This is what they should do for Black Panther 3 and Shang-Chi 2. Heck put Johnny Storm and the Fantastics in Spidey 4 and put Spidey and Carol in FF2. Don't get why they haven't replicated the Winter Soldier/Civil War/Homecoming/Ragnarok team-up concepts for Phase 4-5 other than NWH and MoM. It boosts the BO and also builds on character relationships and chemistry beyond the Avenger films.

Lol if THAT had been the plot of Wonder Woman 1984, that film would have been far better received. A talking caterpillar wouldn't have saved a Shazam film that is part of a cinematic universe about to be reset. This was doomed since the Gunn announcement was made. Maybe it would have done better coming out in the Christmas period and taking advantage of Way of Water spillovers.

I don't get the appeal of Lobo tbh (and apparently neither do the majority of folks as the character has always been fringe). The Rock should have been Shazam! himself. It's what I've been saying since 2015 or whenever the DCEU road map was first shared. He could have given a star-making turn to an Egyptian actor as Black Adam to play the sympathetic antagonist in his Shazam film and we would be looking at a very different situation right now.

Maleficent (the first one) and Aladdin are really fun, and Cinderella, Cruella and The Jungle Book were deemed to be actual good films. BatB, TLK, Mulan, Mistress of Evil and the Alice films are poop. Haven't watched Lady and the Tramp and Pinocchio yet. Going by Marshall's track record, I think this may fall in the first category with Mal1 and Aladdin as enjoyable as he can do a serviceable job if the source material is excellent (Into the Woods) even if he hasn't shown a capability (so far) of elevating stories.

It's not the most head-scratch worthy decision Hollywood has ever made though. With the success of Critical Role and The Adventure Zone, I can see why some execs thought the IP might break out like Sonic/Jumanji 2 on the big screen with a strong script (which I'm hearing the movie has). It does seem like a wrong gamble as D&D is still very niche despite those former podcasts and their various adaptations gaining popularity. It probably has the stigma against nerd culture properties that superhero stories previously had and managed to shake off. Maybe they should have just cast Tom Holland and Zendaya 😛
