Despite her, it's a rousing and entertaining movie (even if it's basically the Alias pilot with Tom Cruise as Jennifer Garner).

What a great first movie by J.J. The opening scene just makes you squeeze the hand rest while on the edge of your seat. Some of the best acting in the whole series and I fucking love that shot of Tom Cruise flying into the car on bridge. I also really like that we know nothing about the danger its all a McGuffin. 

 

That being said the ending is a little disappointing.

I can understand its weak OW (all trailers consisted of Davian threatening Ethan followed by a bunch of action scenes), what I can't understand is its poor multiplier, what happened?

entertaining but totally forgettable movie. Had a very TV movie feel.

Very exciting and intense thriller and clearly the second-best of the series (not far behind M:I 4 IMO). PSH is an amazing villain who is just evil as shit.

It's got very good setpieces, even if they aren't that spectacular. They're well-constructed. It's a movie that doesn't really breathe but that's okay. Hoffman is fantastic as the villain. Cinematography is actively bad. B+
