To be honest, the one very similar problem I have with both DH2 and TDKR is the deaths of the villains could have been done better. With TDKR, it would have honestly been understandable if someone didn't know whether Bane died or not. Shocking that the camera refused to linger on him. Talia's death was probably the worst in YEARS. Bellatrix in DH2 went out way too quickly. She should have suffered.

I found Bardem's villain way too small-scale for a Bond film. Revenge is perfectly fine as a generic motivation, but it's got to be a grand, operatic scale of revenge. Already I can hear "But wait, that's what's great! It transcends Bond to become a more personal story of vengeance." Perhaps, but it's not a particularly good story of that sort either, relying way too much on idiotic plot conveniences and silly action to work as a darker crime drama. It's stuck between both worlds, and it succeeds in neither.
