REVISED Weekend Estimates 6/14--6/16: Man of Steel OW $116.7M($128.7M including WM)

But there is no way to measure how many extra tickets were sold/bought by those church people.

Warners and Walmart came out and told everyone how much both showings made. They made it super easy for BOM to separate both on their charts.

BUT WE DON'T KNOW IF ANY CHURCH-GOERS DIDN'T ACTUALLY USE THEIR TICKETS AND PLUS THEY MIGHT NOT HAVE PAID THE CHURCHES FOR THEM ZOMG.....!

;)

They're not consistent. Sometimes they separate pre-10pm shows, sometimes they don't.

They are consistent when the information is given.

It'll be fun to come back to this thread if (when?) a film with 9pm or 7pm previews beats Harry Potter's record because of those additional showtimes.

What are you talking about? It's Jesus getting whipped for 90 minutes! Of COURSE all those church people would go see it. :D

Plus not everyone is a chronic Walmart shopper. So many never heard about that promotion anyway.  What Walmart sold or didn't sell really can't be fairly used to gauge universal interest in the film. So whether they sold them all publicly, purposely held some back for employees, or wallpapered their bathrooms, it doesn't really matter. They came to the "counter" as a buying customer and there you go. The public showed up strong without their help at midnight anyway. So demand for Man of Steel is there.

Do the Walmart #s count towards the weekend gross? If so $100m seems assured...

It should but technically boxofficemojo will count it as Thursday.

News outlets are reporting the movie beat Iron man, Batman and Avengers opening midnights. It will be very confusing when people hear that movie's opening figure is below some of the aforementioned movies.

Fortunately for the BSG, they're included. :) [right, baumer? *shakes fist*]

Yup. Rules say all of Thursdays gross will count towards OW.

Early sneaks+midnights did beat IM's, BB's, and AVENGER's early sneaks+midnights. Obviously weekends are a different story.
