2004:  Shrek2  +  SharkTale (3 weekends!)  +  TheIncredibles

2003:  none!

 

2002:  none!

2001:  MonstersInc

2000:  none!

1999:  ToyStory2

1998:  Antz  +  ABugsLife

 

1997:  none!

1996:  none!

1995:  ToyStory (3 weekends!)

1993:  Aladdin (3 weekends!)

 

 

I think the "none" situation of 2007 will be the last ever...

So THE HEAT is also in the running for the biggest non-sequel this summer? Is there a chance for PACIFIC RIM?

 

The Heat isn't going to come close to WWZ.

Maybe this is because even animations are more frontloading in general than years before. Thus they get much bigger first two weekends.

Really want to see that one.

 

And Gravity is coming in the end of the year...

If only SandraBullock could do again the one-two punch of 2009 (Proposal + Blindside)

 

Not talking about oscars, just dollars.

If there is no GU2, it could get close.

 

The Heat could and should get a 4X, which gives it about 160 mill.  WWZ will go north of 200 I think.  So imo I don't think it would be close.

But what about the "3weekends movies"...

A big feat followed by bad consequences, as we see it now.

 

SharkTale: bad reputation

HappyFeet: Part2 crashed & burned

Shrek4: Franchise "killer"

I wasn't posting in june but i remember some saying/asking/shouting 60-70M TOTAL for this one.
