Tesseract
It looks like Tintin will end up with approximately $370M worldwide. Will it still be enough to justify a sequel?
fmpro
Very interesting question.. I think we have to wait for Dvd sales and BR for that...

rockNrollaDIM
$370m is very tepid for a big Steven Speilberg animated family release... doesn't justify a sequel IMO. But we'll see.

John Marston
It has been.Spielberg confirmed a couple of days ago.Talking about it doesn't mean a sequel is 100% greenlighted
Fake
Tintin is a franchise with lot of merchandising potential. So a sequel makes sense even if the theatrical business is not as profitable. One way to look at things will be: 'Hey, it made more than Captain America and First Class worldwide on a smaller budget, and if they are getting a sequel why should Tintin not?' fmpro
Looks like it has to have very good drops from now on to reach 20 mill..But what a run..
fmpro
Talking about it doesn't mean a sequel is 100% greenlightedKinda agree.. Greenlighted for us means an official release date..But SS ' s word is law.. He get what he wants..

fmpro
Hmm.. Still different Fake.. Avatar made tons of money and will again..Tintin will make money down the road maybe.. Investors are not that happy to take risks these days..
pinocchio
I don't think there will be a Tintin sequel. Jackson/Spielberg had killer contracts for the first flick which will make it nearly impossible to break even in the next years IMHO.Jackson has The Hobbit which will probably be an instant hit. Pressure is on Spielberg to deliver something great and profitable again. We discussed a Superman Returns sequel her for years and it never happened. The usual blabla. Studio talks about finished screenplays, directors who are willing to do the job so on don't mean anything.
