"La Cordillera" wins the local movie showdown, but it will fall behind "El Fútbol o Yo" soon 'coz it's so so WOM.

Emoji once again finished with the best hold on the board, it's playing strong compared to other markets, but it's run won't be something to remember.

Week is over, local movies led the way but both had meh holds, Emoji once again, even battling the horrible reviews and WOM, it's the big winner of the week.

 

Today Wide Releases:

 

Anabelle Creation opens in 343 screens the widest opening for an horror movie ever. 

 

The Conjuring Franchice's totals:

The Conjuring (2013): 1.081.000

Anabelle (2014): 740.000

The Conjuring 2 (2016): 1.782.000

 

Based on how well the franchise played in the market it should drop some good numbers over the weekend (I can imagine 250k-280k admissions during the weekend). 

 

Ozzy the spanish animated movie hits 110 screens trying to take some bite from Emoji.

Argentinian national soccer team played yesterday that's why the poor holds (-67% avg.) overall. With that in mind Anabelle 2 OD still very strong, so we can expect a strong OW (maybe a top 10 OW of 2017). Let's see if the others movies can recover from the steep fall

Anabelle 2 ruled the box office with an amazing start, showing that the franchise is the strongest among the horror movies. It should end it's run easily over 1M admissions (I imagine it finishing at arround 1.3M). Overall good holds, with "El Fútbol o Yo" getting closer to the 1M milestone.

 

Anabelle 2 achievements:

-5th Highest OW of the year (4th PotC 5, 6th SM:HC).

-2nd Highest OW ever, in terms of Admissions (1st The Conjuring 2 485.910 Adm.)

-Highest OW of the year for Warner (Upcoming Warner highlights: "It" and Justice League)

Strong hold for Anabelle 2 coming from an amazing OW (The Conjuring 2 -26%, at this same point it reached 1M admissions), it's tracking TC2 by a ~19%, but it's looking in nice shape to be one of the highlights of the year. I keep thinking that it's aiming to a total close to 1.3M, it' could go higher depending on how Amytville (14th Sept) and specially It (21th Sept) hit it's late legs.

Another local movie, Los que Aman odian opens over the 100.000 admissions mark (6th of the year and the lowest OW among them) and based on it's so/so reviews, there's no much to expect from it. Emoji once again laughting from critics and achieved an increase, this movie will enjoy the lack of strong animated movies for the next couple of weeks (28th Sept Ninjago).

Nice OW for Thor, taking the 9th spot in the highest OW of the year so far. In my opinion one of the most impressive. Where's heading it's hard to tell because JL hitting theaters in 3 Weekends.

Great, but nothing special OD for JL, amazing hold for MotOE sadly it's opening numbers were a bit low so totals won't be so high. Thor 3 had a nice hold despite JL opening.

Monday Is a holiday so we will have strong weekend. I expect strong weekend days for JL so it may outgross Thor 3 4-day weekend by a solid margin, if that happends 1m admissions will be locked.

Thor's first sunday was the strongest of it's run with 99k adm. Tomorrow is a holiday so in face JL sunday has to be stronger than saturday, but it's run is being very disapointing.
