Man of Steel from this point had a multiplier of 1.45.  Do the same for BvS and you get $32.9m.  Even if you just add the extra gross of $7.6m that MoS made from this point you still get $30.3m.  It would really have to have horrendous drops of historic proportions for BvS to miss $30m.

I agree.

Accept its first drop was up amongst the biggest ever. I think it will hit 31m but under 30m is very possible at this point.

Ok its holidays and last weekend.

Zootopia made 3.1m and

bvs made 4.6m.

weekday totals were

bvs 1.57m

zootopia 2m.

Yeah ok zoo is a kids film and will leggy thru the holidays. I'd say BVS is heading for a 2m to 2.5m 3rd weekend. only projected for now.

Zoo looks like it will hold flat as expected. Though it does TJB opening is some parts of the market this weekend.

From Deadline:

Australia, where THWWopened in only some states, was a No. 2 bow on Thursday. The gross is $980K at 262 dates. It’s running a close race with Zootopia for No. 1 over the weekend.

Looks like BvS is dropping to 3rd.

BvS Yes (well technically #4)and that above figure THWW would be thu-fri+previews and its all states, prob mixed up with JB which is QLD/VIC/Tas and premium screens Sat/Sun others states also Disney atm wouldn't be report anything on JB till end of week(when industry law says they have to :P).

Are they also wrong about the number of screens ? 262 screens seem too low for a big movie like this.

The avergae ticket price in Australia was of 13.68 in 2014.

Anybody knows what is the average ticket price of 2015?

$20 dollars a small cinema room and $25 dollars for a larger one called  Vmax with a bigger screen. Its quite expensive compared to other countries.

not all cinemas are priced the same:

Event / BCC (Adult tickets only)

Gold Class = $39.50 Normal / $25 Matinee/Tuesday

Vmax = $22 Normal / $13.50 Tuesday

Normal = $19 Normal / $10.50 Tuesday

3D = $3 surcharge

Village Cinemas

Very similar prices to the above ($1 higher for some tickets but very little difference)

Cineplex

Ticket = $8.50 / $6.50 tuesdays / $12.50 deluxe

2.50 premium for 3D.

Hoyts

Seem to be a little cheaper than the event cinemas above (about 4 to 5 dollars cheaper in fact for some tickets.)

Also includes IMAX (not sure if it's true IMAX however)

There is IMAX Darling Harbour which is seperate.

anyway point is ticket prices are not just $20.  This only applies to the big chains such as Event / Village and Hoyts slightly under that.

Average price should be around the 14 mark.  We should know soon enough the official number when screen australia does their yearly update (which is currently overdue - normally is updated by the end of March)

I suspected that Deadline got itself mixed up.  980k US is about 1.4m AUD, which isn't a great start if the film is truly wide.  wow if BVS has fallen to 4th. (yeah ok includes jb )

so i guess the top 4 are :

1/2 Zootopia 3 - 3.5m ?

1/2 The Huntmans Winter War 3 - 3.5m

3 jungle  book (though it won't appear in this spot thanks to the stupid reporting thing) 2 - 3m ?

4 BVS < 2m ?

All of the Hoyts IMAX are digital IMAX.  Usually converted theatres similar in size to the Event VMAX.  Only Sydney and Melbourne are proper IMAX. Sydney is now $35 for an adult ticket.

Event VMAX in Sydney can be $25 for an adult ticket.  Newcastle is even more expensive then Brisbane at $23 for VMAX.

So do I get this right? JB did $2,6m in half of Australia with Sat/Sun Screenings only?

If so, this would be massive.

No, not exactly.  It was a regular Thursday opening in just under half the country plus it also had special large format advance screenings on Saturday and Sunday in the rest of the country.  The unusual opening means it's a bit hard to compare it to anything else.  USD2.6m converts to AUD3.44m so a full regular opening might have been around AUD5m or USD3.78m

It looks roughly like this in Aussie dollars.

TJB - $3.44m (from Deadline -USD2.6m)

The Huntsman - $2.7m (from @Rthbelow)

Zootopia - $2.6m (from Deadline -dropped 18%)

BvS - $2.12m (from Deadline -USD1.6m)

MBFGW2- $1.85m (from Deadline -USD1.4m)

KFP3- $1.37m (from Deadline -USD1.04m)

TJB - $3.44m (from Deadline -USD2.6m)

THWW about 2.7

Zoo 2.6  -15%

BvS 2.1  -53%

MBFGW2 1.8m -36%

2015 average is $13.61 (2014 13.68), example on rating a G rated film average is $11.44 and MA $13.82

Lot of things effect ticket average  , on top of above being some example of top adult price and  forgetting price Student/child/3D etc there is also a lot of discount prices like of the cuff you might walk into an Event site and say pay $25 for Vmax but if you did your homework beforehand  through either Movie Money, Optus/Telstra Rewards, Entertainment book vouchers just to name a few that $25 ticket you could have gotten  for $16-18

The Sydney Imax top price $35 but average ticket price there is usually in $22-25 range
