So everyone understands why the weekdays for TJB seemed to drop off badly in comparison to other films. Qld/Vic holidays have ended. School is back in there. While the rest of country only started the holidays.

Plus it also wasn't boosted by advanced screenings in the other states.

JB WE looking around 5.4-5.58m cume over 10

Boss 2.2m

Allegiant 2m (63% of divergent, 48% insurgent)

TJB should cross 20m easily. The question is whether 30m is possible. Not bad for the boss. Dissappointed but I guess expected for allegiant.

What im interested in is whether BVS went sub 1m for the weekend. (It really needs at least 1m to hit 30m at this point. )

Fantastic result for the The Jungle Book.  As noted already, TJB should easily pass 20m and target 30m at this point.  The Boss seems a little underwhelming but i guess it's ok.  Allegiant about expected.. i'm disappointed but that's just me.... Zootopia should wind around 26m at this point... BVS continues it's epic week in week out slides... unless something dramatically changes, BVS will likely wind up just short of 30m which will make the largest opening to not pass 30m. Assuming this happens, it will join 4 other films as 1 of 5 films that did not pass 30m after opening above 10m.

I just saw Civil War at Event Cinemas George St

9.5/10

Definitely the best one yet.

I have to thank Marvel, Disney and Event Cinemas for a great night. A Gold Class advanced screening, complimentary drink and pizza in the Gold Class bar. Then in the theatre a Coke, Water and popcorn each.

I'd never been to Gold Class before so that was an added bonus.

Event Cinemas is the largest theatre chain in Australia and they had 2 advance screenings tonight. One in Sydney and one in Melbourne. There were 56 people at my Sydney screening.  I'm not sure if any other chains had advanced screenings. The Event employee who organised it said she had seen it yesterday morning.

Looks like TJB was #1 again with a drop of only 4%.

1. TJB $5.8m

2. Eddie the Eagle $3.1m

3. Zootopia $1.67m

4. The Boss $1.56m

TJB should over 20m now. Not sure if 30m is possible given the holidays are ending and civil war will arrive with a resounding thump this weekend coming. It could do it but if it drops >50% this weekend given the above factors, then 30m is dead.

Zootopia in the same boat but over 26m now.

As as for eddie, that's a massive opening for that film. 3m+ Ow for a film that got 6m ow stateside and 4m usD ow in the uk. 3m here is like a 30m ow in the USA

Hmm. BVS might just scrape by 30m yet. Though I am expecting a rather large drop this weekend coming. Between holidays ending and civil war opening I doubt it will be pretty.

Tbh I fully expected BVS to be above 1m still when civil war opened. Instead sub 300k is possible...

I'm looking forward to seeing Civil War. Again.

BvS opened with over 3 times the gross of MBFGW2 on the same weekend.  Look at them now.

Eddie wasn't as high as first suggested. Deadline included previews.

I too am looking forward to Civil War.  Never thought i'd say that about a Captain America film, though this is pretty much The Avengers 2.5 :P

It's very good.  It pretty much works as a sequel to both TWS and AoU.  It's only missing 2 of The Avengers but then there are all the add-ons.  I actually can't wait to see it again.

Also, there was a mid credit scene and there will be an after credits scene.

Wow, MBFGW2 was a massive hit in Australia compared to the rest of the world.

The first one did make over $27m here (3rd  largest market after Domestic and the UK) plus with a very large Greek community there's a history of popular comedies here based around Greeks in Australia.

Also, I just noticed that from Thursday BvS is gone from both Wollongong and Shellharbour Greater Union.
