While that number looks low, TMNT is only in previews. So in context it's a good sign. Opens 11th sept. Positioned perfectly for the sept holidays coming soon. Into the storm about where expected.

Here's an interesting comment. "We made one hell of a mistake with The Lego Movie," he said. "It was an Australian film, we financed it together with Warner Brothers, it was made here in King's Cross. Because it was so important we held it for a holiday period. It was a disaster. No more."Village Roadshow will now release movies on the same day and date as in the United States, Mr Burke said.http://www.smh.com.au/digital-life/digital-life-news/malcolm-turnbull-says-copyright-law-proposal-a-failure-and-government-needs-to-start-again-20140911-10fb6h.html

Not a bad opening for TMNT.  I think 15m to 20m is manageable from here given holidays start rolling from this weekend around the country.  I don't expect Planes to perform well here (10m at most I think).

I don't understand why GOTG lost so many screens... -190 ??? given it's continuing to have one of the best averages in the top 20.

(it's the 2nd highest average in the top 10 only behind TMNT and 4th in the top 20...... )

I think the competition just isn't that strong at the moment for this holidays meaning GOTG can hold well during the holidays... I think 28m is possible here with an outside shot of 30m now if it can hold onto screens.

After nearly three decades of arguing, agreeing and informing Australians about which films they should be watching, Margaret Pomeranz and David Stratton are calling it a day.

The pair who first worked together at SBS on The Movie Show and then the ABC for At The Movies will retire from the roles at the end of this current season.

At The Movies will not return in 2015.

"After 28 years reviewing films on television with Margaret, ten of them at the ABC, I feel it’s time to go," Stratton said in a statement.

Is TMNT still in previews?

no .. it's already been out for 2 weeks.

That's a good start for maze runner (compared to the states too)

not good starts for planes 2, boxtrolls and especially the giver.

In saying that, holidays have only just started in qld.  most of the country isn't on holidays this weekend coming.  still very disappointing results and not a good sign for this holidays.
