Avengers dropped over 30% from Thursday, not surprising and not bad when you consider that it wasn't even the only movie to drop. Annabelle and Pets 2 (lol!) did it too.

Was hoping for something more from TS4 than a flat Friday.

 

Endgame should get there on Sunday.

OW I really doubt it, unless it's a very rainy one, as it opens on Wednesday ( -> not counted in the OW) and it's summer, where weekends are deflated and weekdays are inflated. Also, Captain Marvel opened at 4M (which is pretty damn great) while Homecoming opened at 2.65M, with OD being Thursday.

Thinking 0.9/1.1M OD, 3.4M OW, 10/11M total. As always, weather can totally screw things. That prediction is based on a partially rainy weekend.

However, the official list is the Cinetel one, as their data, though incomplete, is released the day after for every movie and continuously updated. For movies released in the last 15 years or so it's pretty accurate, as by then 90%+ of the market was covered and only minor theaters were left (in fact the general rule is: take Cinetel's numbers - aka the ones I and others post here every day - and add them 1/5% depending on the kind of film to get the true number). But back in the 90's, Cinetel only covered like 50/65% of the market, which wasnt even dominated yet by multiplexes, so a big part of the gross was lost. Anyways, here's the top 12:

Not an exciting weekend but it's still up up (+77.06%) from the same weekend last year. 2019 is now up from 2018 by 5.95%.

 

Annabelle started very strong, but it deflated very quickly. It now looks to finish behind the second chapter's 3.5M total gross.

 

Toy Story 4 had a very poor hold and is now even uncertain to even beat The Grinch's 5.8M total among this season's animated titles. First TS movie below the 1M admissions.

 

Endgame did very very well, especially considering Italy is not a country where rereleases work and the period of the year is nasty. I have honestly no idea how it's going to perform in the next days. Though Alice in Wonderland will, I think, remain on the podium.

 

The Secret Life of Pets 2 recovered very very well over the weekend, but it's now too late for it. Aladdin is now locked to beat Cinderella's 15.03M.

 

 

This week: Spider Man: Far From Home. Its OD should at least double TS4's, and ergo finish very close to 1M. After that, it's all up to the weather. I'd say:

Great Monday for Aladdin, thanks to many theaters offering cheaper tickets for it again. It passed the 15M mark and joins Dory, Beauty and the Beast, Despicable Me 3, Star Wars 8, Infinity War, Bohemian Rhapsody and Endgame in the 15M+ club of the last three seasons.

 

Very strong Monday hold for Endgame too. We'll see how many screens it can hold this weekend, but if it can hold many Alice in Wonderland is in trouble.

Maybe Endgame has something to do with it: bad weather came in full force when it opened and went away when it got kicked out of the top 10; a few days ago it was rereleased and we're starting to get spring weather in summer. In that case, I hope it stays in theaters till August.

Ant-Man 2 opened in the summer, so the OD was obviously inflated. IW and Aquaman's OD were holidays. Venom had mediocre legs but it still managed 8.5 millions.

Therefore...yes, it's breakout! Today, though, we'll see how much some schools being closed helped boosting the opening.

Some discussion on CBM and other blockbuster franchise ODs (though I believe most of those are Thurs?). CM was € 765.871.   

 

Yuge start for Spidey here, should make top 10 SH pretty easily.
