It looks like they overestimated HTTYD2. It did €2.046.226 including previews according to Cinetel, which is around $2.7m.

Darn. Still not bad though - maybe I'd be more upset if it weren't doing as well in China.The first one only made $7M in Italy, so I guess this is going to pass its total soon?

Yes, (unfortunately) dailies will still be strong till mid-September and Planes is the only competitor it faces.

 

Also, many were on holiday during last weekend, so next weekend's hold could be really strong.

They didn't say $3.6M, which was the initial estimate reported on BO.com and Screen International. They said $3M. So that was STILL overestimated?

That difference appears since day 1 because Fox reported $0.55m in previews and cinetel $0.30m. I have no idea which number is the right one

Yeah the end of week reported previews was lc289k Sat-sun figure should get over lc2.060.

The Fox official weekend est (thru sunday inclu prev) was us3,551,994 for that they had to be assuming sunday would be actually bigger than Sat. sunday had 40% drop other movies in top 10 except for chef(-40% sun) dropped 30 or less

 

Monday should get to at least lc410k

Ah no nothing as crazy as China movies can open anyday reporting week set at fri-thu but its screwed with all the different dating

 

Italy is no different to a lot of markets where a % of films do open on other days than the normal.

The way things work is that a weekend is defined as the day films normally open in the territory (ie Thu) thru to sunday, a week as normal week for films so in this case  Thu-Wed,

When films open on other days like Wed the reporting week is still Thu-Sun and Thu-Wed covering all titles, now in this situation a couple things happen for a record Opening week report its based on 1st 7 days so a Wed opening (not ones classed as previews) will be Wed-Tues figure for that purpose(the UK is different in this regard they will say record weekend and week includes previews or official openings on other days).

Theatres that opened on say Wed (also theatres that open in week 2 onwards would open Thu not the wed) depending on territory either week1 for billing purposes will be Wed-Wed(so charged for a 8 day week, the 7 day week  there after Thu-wed this for example happens in Mexico) or rolling 7 days Wed-Tues(in which case all following weeks will be Wed-Tues charged until theatre finishes, it can revert back to Thu-wed but I'm not going to go into that scenario)
