The Paramount Pictures Thread | Skydance has finally bought out the studio

How much money did Skydance have that they were able to essentially buy a major Hollywood studio?

Anyway, one would hope that this will be the last of these big Hollywood mergers, but that’s probably too optimistic.

The Ellison family is very rich. Buying Paramount is like a morning coffee for them.

David's father Larry is a co-owner of Oracle, which has a net worth of $400 billion now. Paramount is valued at $8 billion.

Ah, one of those billionaire families. Lovely…

Well, at least it wasn’t Sony.

What the fuck...

Can New York Times go after them next?

This soon after the Quiet on Set Nickelodeon debacle too.

Hollywood is soulless and shameless fr. The extreme right trolls kind of blind us to the fact at times but execs are sure to remind us they are trash too on a regular basis.

Hollywood is very shameless, yes. But, this executing getting another shot like this, Brad Pitt continuing to star in movies, Kevin Spacey being honored in France? Like...bitch.

Let's hope the basement under them collapses. ❤️

I mean Johnathan Majors has got a film in the works with a producer from sound of freedom.

So it's not just paramount or the other big studios.

Wait, so she was just stalling for a better offer from Skydance? Lame!

I got news for you: that is way things work in the film business. Hell ,that is the way they work in any business; you always hold out in hopes of a better deal. Very much a standard tactic. Welcome to the real world.

One of those High Tech Billoniaire famalies.

Oracle is one of the founding companies of the modern high tech world right up there with Micorsoft and Apple, though they like to keep a lower profile.

The geeks everybody laughed at in High School back in the 60;s now control the universe,

Nothng new. Back in the thirties, the major studios basically bribed LA Law enforcement to make sure the big stars slmodt never had to actually face consequences for their actions.

Eddie Manix, a MGM Offical, got the nickname "The Fixer" because of his ablity to bribe LA politicans to make problems vanish. (though the worked for MGM, all the studios used him to handle their problems"One of the few who did face charges was Errol Flynn, but he was pretry stupid and he managed to get acquitted in the actual trial, though his career never really recovered.

And it was not that long ago Hollywood some kind of poor matyred hero out of Roman Polanski.

And the producers of Sound and Freedom make such a huge deal about being Devout Christians. I think the term hypocrite can be uses safely here.
