Abusing? When have I used my Nolan powers to do anything here besides hide the 300 spoilers posted?

Hey, calm down Ed. You're doing good. Go on and use that Nolan power to save us all.

GODZILLA: $166.6M Overseas Total / $315.3M Global Total #Godzilla

Like domestically Godzilla had a nasty drop overseas. That is just bad.

Well it still has China and Japan to go. 2 potentially  big markets.

people clearly underestimated the avengers bump

Yes, of course they did. And now they also said they knew it would be big all along. That's more convenient, isn't if?

True

But the competition also relied too much on its core advantage of having notorious popular properties they wasted over years.

TA was made after CA1.  It was a risk, they fed each other.  If it didn't succeed, then CA2 would have made less.

Here you have Spidey properties and Xmen properties that started strong and were wasted along the way.

When Spider Man 3 opened at $150M, it's not because of TA and CA2 that TASM2 opened at $91M even with the 3D addition.  When Xmen3 opened above $100M, it's not because of CA2 overperforming that DOFP opened above $90M even with the 3D inclusion..

It's because those properties have wasted a lot of goodwill along the way for years and haven't capitalized on their momentum.

Cap 2 definitely had some advantages Thor 2 didn't have. In China it had relatively little competition for several weeks for example while Thor 2 went up against Gravity and Catching Fire.

So what are the other advantages that you didn't know at all before it was released but now you do?

yeah but in Europe it had to face none other than Spider Man prematurelly.  So all in all, its equal.

yep, I certainly didn't know Cap 2 was opening during a holiday week in China with not much competition the following weeks until the week it came out

It faced Spider-Man 2 in just 17 markets in his forth weekend. I don't think it had that much of an impact.
