Apes should win the weekend with The Purge 2 opening over 25M. Sex Tape will open with 15M, horrendous numbers. Planes 2 will also open below the first. I assume from now on the Planes stuff will be released direct to video in America with the OS markets still getting it in theaters.

Even with 13m Friday, 25m+ is not a lock imo for Purge2.

The first one did 16.77 od and 34.05m ow. Same pattern gives Purge2 26.39m (12.5m Friday gives it 25.38m).

Some sequel front-loading could well reduce that #.

The first was received rather disastrously. Bad wom kicked in immediately. It also had far more hype pre-release meaning a bigger rush factor opening day.

25 is locked.  Even if it were to drop 30% today and 35% on Sunday, you still get 27 mill.  I think you're being a bit hard on it.

Glad to see that Sex Tape is flopping.  Another moronic attempt at comedy goes down.  Blended, Million Ways, Tammy, Sex Tape, etc.  I know that Tammy and Think Like a Man 2 had low budgets so they will still be profitable, but they are still coming in lower than expected.

Sex Tape's low budget of 40m will help it out. Low budgets have bailed out comedies this year(or always).
