Kalo
Got the feeling John Williams might just win for Star Wars if the score is at least on the level of what he did on the prequels. He hasn't won in 22 years and he's turning 83 this year. The fact that Phantom Menace wasn't even nominated for Original Score was a joke. imo all the star wars scores at least deserved nominations. here's hoping for SW7.
4815162342
Not AotC. Most of the final act C&Ps music from TPM. Edited March 9, 2015 by 4815162342
stripe
Not AotC. Most of the final act C&Ps music from TPM. I wonder why happened something like this? Maybe Williams had no time to score AotC? That year he scored 4 films! Or maybe Lucas rejected Williams compositions? I read somewhere that there was a possible problem between them and Lucas decided to C&P parts of the TPM score. It's a shame, because AotC had a powerful love theme, some really great action sections (Coruscant chase and The arena). But then, the score at the final battle is a big WTF
4815162342
They used TPM music as temp and Lucas liked how it worked so Williams worked it in instead of new material

Imagine if the love story behind it was that good? but I guess overall AOTC soundtrack. may not have been quite as good as the others. still think it was nomination worthy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9nk_WHHTQtY Edited March 9, 2015 by Kalo

Jake Gittes
I'm kinda hoping Inarritu misses out on another Director nom because no one who has won Best Director since 1998 was nominated for his next film.
ddddeeee
They used TPM music as temp and Lucas liked how it worked so Williams worked it in instead of new material Williams wrote new material and Lucas rejected in it favor of music from TPM. It was like Raimi/Elfman on Spider-Man 2 except with no falling out. Funnily enough Lucas then used some of Williams' rejected music in RotS, and Raimi used some of Elfman's rejected music in Spider-Man 3. ddddeeee
Didn't know it got used in Sith. Do you know what bits? On the top of my head Williams' original music for the arena battle in AotC is used when Anakin marches towards the Temple.

ShouldIBeHere
Victoria might very well be the German entry this year, imho. It is one giant 2.5 hour take... not cuts etc. Brilliant movie.
Jake Gittes
Not Phoenix?
Jake Gittes
Cinematography looks kinda easy to predict from this point - The Revenant, The Hateful Eight, Carol, Sicario, Spectre and Mad Max seem like the only movies with a big enough chance to get in, and I think either Sicario or Spectre will get the snub. Though it's possible I'm just not paying enough attention to the boring period pieces like Suffragette or The Dressmaker. DOR's movies have never been stunning in cinematography, but that trailer is absolutely gorgeous and dreamlike.
ShouldIBeHere
Not Phoenix? Phoenix was last year... and for whatever reason lost the German entry to Barbara. Victoria was not put forward now either... 49% of the dialogue is in English (it is mostly spoken between a German and a Spanish (?) exchange student) and the Academy only allows for 40%. One of the instances the rules really got in the way... Victoria would surely have been a very, very strong contender and is a very German movie in terms of what it protrays. Germany will propose "Das Labyrinth des Schweigens" now. Edited August 27, 2015 by ShouldIBeHere
