Quigley Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 (edited) INSIDE OUT debuted with $41M overseas in 37 territories. MEX ($8M) RUS ($7M) FRA ($5M) OZ ($3.6M) ARG ($3.3M) BRZ ($3.1M) In these 6 territories, it's openings were 33% higher than Up and on par with Finding Nemo. Comparison with MU is TS3 is less helpful as they are sequels. Edited June 21, 2015 by Quigley 1 Quote

Rsyu Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Looking at the positive reactions makes me think it there's a strong chance it grosses $100M+ in Japan. It would be great if China came on board too. 2 Quote

Olive Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 It opened under Brave in most MARKETS, disappointing. Brave bombed in China and Japan, Inside Out will certainly do much better. 350 - 400M Quote
Rsyu Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 O/U $500m? Over for me, as long as it doesn't flop in China 1 Quote
Olive Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 40m tops in China IMO, original Pixar movies are hard to sell here. I HOPE it can surprise us. Quote
keysersoze123 Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 I am thinking 350-450m depending on Japan. I hope Korea and China surprises us as well. Quote

Olive Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Brave made less than $5M in China, epic bomb... Quote
Rsyu Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 I am thinking 350-450m depending on Japan. I hope Korea and China surprises us as well. Inside out does seem like the kind of film that could go nuts in Japan. Really pessimistic about South Korea though and apparently Olive is the same about China. It's weird how Pixar seems to flop in these two countries compared to other animated films. Quote
Olive Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 And let's hope it won't be scheduled close to minions, otherwise it'll get slaughtered. Quote
jiangsen Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 From BoxOffice.com's Global Report Disney/Pixar’s Inside Out opened to $41.0 million from 5 major markets and 37 overseas territories, approximately 42% of its final international footprint. The film got off to an outstanding start with an estimated total of $132 million worldwide. Latin America posted $21.8 million, led by Mexico with $8.8 million which is the highest non-sequel animated opening of all-time and the fifth highest overall animated opening of all-time. Argentina opened at #1 with $3.3 million and Brazil took second behind Jurassic World with $3.1 million. Elsewhere Colombia grossed $1.1 million and Panama took in $1.6 million. Russia also opened at #1 with $7.7 million, the highest opening ever for a Disney/Pixar animated release including Frozen. Australia took in $3.6 million which is on par with Big Hero 6’s opening and should have strong holds through the upcoming Winter school holiday. In Europe, France was the only significant market to open this weekend and took in $5.2 million, just below Frozen. The Fête du Cinéma, an annual celebration of films which brings out huge audience numbers, which starts next week, as well as summer school holidays starting on July 3 will help Inside Out moving forward. International releases will be staggered throughout the next few months to coincide with local holidays. Inside Out will open in Belgium, Hungary, New Zealand, India, and Trinidad next weekend. Other key overseas openings are South Korea (July 9), Spain (July 17), Japan (July 18), UK/Ireland (July 24), Italy (September 16), and Germany (October 1). China has no confirmed release date yet. 1 Quote
Quigley Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 The guy (Keith Simanton) is truly and officially an imbecile. Look at what he tried to do here: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/showdowns/chart/?id=pixaroriginalssummer.htm He doesn't even know that Box Office Mojo's code doesn't allow for 7 films in a showdown. Also, the best comment he has to make when comparing Avatar and Inside Out (former and current original IP opening-weekend record holders) is "Avatar had a higher per-theater average" (which was btw only $200 higher). He needs to be fired right now. I'm sending an email to IMDb. 2 Quote
tupek Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 This is likely going to gross 1/2 of Minions OS. That's how it works: put Scrat, Shrek or the Minions on a screenplay written in a few hours and you'll get the money. I want to see Universal with a non-sequel, non-franchise based animation flick (aside from Despicable Me) doing the big numbers Pixar normally does... Quote
Quigley Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 I want to see Universal with a non-sequel, non-franchise based animation flick (aside from Despicable Me) doing the big numbers Pixar normally does... No one can achieve the same consistent and high levels of success for original animated films. Quote
