Apparently I was wrong, 35M RON do look doable right now.

"Avatar: The Way of Water" had another INCREDIBLE week in Romania.

It has grossed $1.6M during its 4th week.

As of SUN (08.01.2023), ATWOW has grossed 28.47M RON ($6.13M).

The movie has now become:

The highest grossing movie of all time in LC.

The second highest grossing movie in USD in Romania (after Avatar 1)

Avatar 1 has grossed $6.64M in Romania, ATWOW should be able to exceed that number and become the highest grossing movie of all time in USD in Romania.

EDIT: Not sure if $6.64M is Avatar 1's total after or before re-releases. Perhaps Charlie does have that information. In case it's the total for the original run only, $7M-$7.2M should be the number to beat for ATWOW in order to become no. 1 in USD.

"Avatar: The Way of Water" has become the highest grossing movie of all time in both LC and USD in Romania.

The movie grossed over $710K during its 5th week here. The total for now sits at 31.72M RON ($6.84M), should easily go over $7M by next week. The movie's run in Romania is truly exceptional.

$483K for "Avatar: The Way of Water" during its 6th week in theaters in Romania. Total is 33.9M RON or $7.32M, now completely cementing its title of highest grossing movie of all time in Romania. This movie's run in Romania continues being absolutely unheard of.

The movie will probably end up at something like 37.5M RON. Let's be very conservative and say 35M RON. Average ticket price is somewhere at 20 RON, so 1.75M admissions in a country with a population of 19M, with a big rural, underdeveloped landscape.

@Andreas, Any Update?

Almost 37M RON (exactly $8M) for ATWOW as of last SUN, 12.02.2023. It's still making big numbers around here, it was no. 3 last weekend.

Last weekend, Titanic opened pretty big with 578K RON ($127K) at no. 2 and Magic Mike opened at no. 4 with 330K RON ($72.5K).

Will update again on Mon/Tue when the numbers for this weekend come out.

Forum Film Romania (the distributor) has stopped communicating admissions as of 2016.

As per Cinemagia, back when it sat at 33.9M RON, it already had more than 1M admissions.

As per my estimations, the ATP would be around 25 - 30 RON, so I'd estimate 1.35M admissions in Romania.
