efialtes76
To call Argo an encyclopedia and not Zero Dark Thirty is just some awkward bias.or Lincoln!!! Edited December 28, 2012 by efialtes76

baumer
You guys are probably right, but I just have that feeling that something like Marigold will surprise you.
Jack Nevada
When are we going to get a documentary nominee for BP?

Jack Nevada
If The Intouchables hadnt bombed so hard in the US it would have had a chance at a BP nom, i think
riczhang
When are we going to get a documentary nominee for BP?We came quite close once quite some time ago.
Jack Nevada
We came quite close once quite some time ago. With what film?
riczhang
With what film?Hoop Dreams from 1994. It by traditional logic would've made the BP list had there been 10 nominees, or the 5% rule. [10 nominee rule for sure, 5% is on more shaky ground] I would hazard a guess and say Inconvenient truth would've made a 10 nominee line-up as well. baumer
Didn't F911 come close as well?
Jack Nevada
Bowling for Columbine was the best film of 2002, it should have got a BP nomination
riczhang
Didn't F911 come close as well? That totally slipped my mind, yeah that probably would've made a 10 picture line-up. Maybe March of the Penguins as well.....
CoolioD1
If I were going for 8 nominees I'd be predicting Best Exotic to make it in.
Michael Gary Scott
I'd switch moonrise with marigold
TLK
Every year we have debates about the timing of movie releases but the truth is that movies like TBEMH and Moonrise would've been likely nominees if they were October/November releases. The timing matters.
riczhang
I'd switch moonrise with marigoldDon't think so. Marigold will get Brit support, and it got SAG which means that it has substantial support among the actors who treat this category often times like BP. (In 2003 3 nominees had 4 people or less in their "ensemble" ) Also, Marigold is much more accessible and Academy friendly than Moonrise.
