GiantCALBears Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Here is the original LA times article & then an update from today's closures & some concept art. Will be one of the biggest expansions either park has seen. http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-disneyland-star-wars-20151226-story.html http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-disneyland-riverfront-post-star-wars-land-20160108-story.html 3
GiantCALBears Posted January 11, 2016 Author Posted January 11, 2016 To give you guys an idea of how crappy it is to be in Disneyland for the next few weeks/months/years? 3
Orestes Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 I haven't been to Disneyland in forever, but I might have to make a day of it after this is finished. 2
GiantCALBears Posted January 11, 2016 Author Posted January 11, 2016 A lot of the closures up there are seasonal but anything related to Rivers of America & Frontierland is specifically SW Land related. Park will look very different in a couple years. 2

At least at WDW, Hollywood Studios is already the weakest park, so the closures there won't affect Disney too much. I hope to check it out when they are done, although that could be in 3-4 years. The rumors around the attractions sound awesome, both sound like huge E-tickets. Only problem I can foresee is that this is so popular that they could expand it, but can't because they don't have the room. 1
WrathOfHan Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Did Soarin' start it's upgrade at DCA yet? It went down at Epcot last week. 1
RobinHood26 Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 They also have to shut down Fantastic! for 18 months Its far better than World of Color 2

Dark 33Legend of the Sith Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 This is Disney's definitive answer to Universal's Harry Potter world. I'm sure it will be a smash success once all the construction is finished. 1
Dan9 Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 I hope they do it justice. As long as they recognise how big this could be and don't rest on their laurels, hopefully we'll get something Cars Land quality and not Season of the Force quality (I know it's not an attraction, just the lack of effort side). DHS could do with this rather than Toy Story... 1

cookie Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 (edited) The last remaining version of the original Star Tours closed in Paris yesterday. Just thought I'd share this post from the event. http://www.endorexpress.net/2016/03/final-boarding-call-for-the-endor-express/ Edited March 17, 2016 by cookie
Jayhawk the Hutt Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 This glorious image popped up on my Twitter feed. This is concept art for Disneyland specifically. 4

GiantCALBears Posted March 2, 2017 Author Posted March 2, 2017 Looks like it's not opening until early 2019. https://www.mouseplanet.com/11689/Disneyland_Resort_Update_for_February_1319_2017
RobinHood26 Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 Willing to bet 100 bucks it misses the date. Every major Disney theme park project in the new decade had been delayed (Shanghai Disney opened a year late and 1 Billion over budget. Avatar land took way longer to break ground then they wanted then they missed the first opening date by a year and went Hundreds of Millions over budget again). This is the GOAL. The real word on the street is, Nov/Dec Star Wars land 2019 DL with the Epidode IX premiere there. then spring/summer 2020 at Hollywood studios. 2
