On Friday, The Huntsman: Winter’s War chopped down $4M for an early overseas total of $15M. That puts the weekend at an estimated $21.3M through Sunday. Across the bows, the film opened No. 1 in the UK, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Vietnam and Mexico. SWATH was initially released in 45 territories day-and-date with the U.S. and grossed $39.3M offshore. There were No. 1 starts in the UK, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Vietnam and Mexico. The UK was the top opener with $4.4M including previews. SWATH started in the UK with $5.5M in 2012 before the big currency fluctuations took hold. Mexico opened No. 1 with $3M at 717 dates, which is 81% of SWATH. Thailand was the next best play at No. 2 with $1.2M at 63 dates, which is 41% bigger than SWATH. Hong Kong was good for $620K and No. 1, on par with SWATH. The follow-up to Snow White and the Huntsman has totaled $43.0 million so far overseas and will open domestically this coming Friday. Key grosses to date by market include $6.3 million in the United Kingdom, $5.1 million in Mexico and $3.1 million in Germany.
