I rather enjoy the first one and the second bus decently fun, but yeah there are a lot of people here who seem to dislike the franchise as a whole

Minions did a billion because kids love them. They are the reason why the DM movies were as big hits as they were, and putting them in the frontline was essentially a ticket for Universal and Illumination to roll around in a pile of Minion-painted cash. Nevermind the millions they make off of Minions merchandising on top of that.
