I still think this will be #1 of the summer unless Finding Dory explodes.

It most definitely will....I almost want to make a club. This can do Jurassic World numbers

Hard to say without knowing where Saturday is headed. If this only opens to 175M it'll be very close.

$180m is great for any movie period, it just looks underwhelming cause we all got hyped up with these insane $215m predictions. The first Avengers movie was a big cultural phenomenon. Sequels pretty much always under perform compared to the first in those situations. I guess ESB and ROTJ's box office performances would be considered disappointing compared to Star Wars then.

It looks just right if you happened to have predicted a 180m OW.   :D

Don't see it. $450M+ is ceiling in my opinion. Jurassic World was a different nostalgia with nothing truly like Jurassic Park until the park opened. Pixar's satiated Nemo fans year in and year out since Nemo.

The #1 movie of the summer will obviously be The Shallows. The audience reaction to the trailer before Captain America last night was priceless.

Some dude actually yelled "SHARKNADO!" at the top of his lungs whenever the shark jumped up from the water and ate the guy.

Kids love Minions too and the sequels to Despicable Me did $368M and $336M respectively. HUGE numbers but not $500M+.

You are aware that those were still a substantial increase over the first movie, right?

Dory probably only needs to sell like half of the original's ticket sales to match its gross. Shouldn't be much of a challenge, really.

I think you and others are underestimating it's nostalgia factor. Everyone I know is hyped for this film because of how much it meant to us when we were kids.

Remove the previews, and it had a nearly identicals Friday proper to Iron Man 3. So, my current guess, if pressed is $181M OW. Unless I'm mistaken, what were Iron Man 3's Thursday preview numbers? $16M or $18M?
