Not necessarily the most overrated ever (probably Gladiator or something) but Civil War is pretty overrated

Gotta ask. If someone hasn't seen any Cap movies, or the Avengers movies, would the movie make any sense at all?

No. You'd pretty much have to watch both of the previous Cap movies and Avenger films to have a solid grounding in the plot.

No.

I have a friend who saw 0 Marvel movies previously to this one and he didn't like it. It is his fault, tho. Not blaming the movie here. But the truth is you need to see every movie in the MCU not named Thor or Guardians of the Galaxy to understand everything.

So you're saying that if someone only watched the 2012 Avengers, they'd be confused by Civil War?

And we thought it might exceed Ultron?

No. Though if anything in the MCU I'd advise you watch the three Cap movies. The Winter Soldier is by far the best film in the franchise

I don't think Ant-Man is really that necessary either.  The Iron Man, Captain America and Avengers movies are all important though.

The reason they call Ant-Man is because of an event that happens in the Ant-Man movie. There is even a joke about that! I was one of the three people laughing in the theater when such joke happened. General Ross is a character that comes directly from The Incredible Hulk so that is a necessary view too.

Neighbors 2, Alice 2, Turtles 2, give a new meaning to sophomore blues.

A curse is upon thee......

Warner escapes the curse when they go with BvS instead of

MoS2: More Destruction Porn

Sophie Turner curses the movie she is in when she utters the

line: "The third one is always the worst"

You don't need every MCU movie prior to CW to enjoy it. You don't even need a plot or characterization (which just gets in the way and makes it more lame)! Just appreciate all the stunt/wire-work, action choreography, and amazing CGI. Think of it as Mad Max 2016, and by doing so, it's beautiful!
