Fox International’s Assassins’ Creed has crossed $100m and sits on $105m. The video game adaptation infiltrates seven territories this session including Brazil, South Korea and Sweden.

Assassin’s Creed led the charts in 14 markets as the video game adaptation added $23.1m from 71 and climbed to an early $132.4m running total.

In a trio of those number one debuts, Brazil generated $3.6m, Sweden $848k and Peru $498k.

Holdovers Russia on a $13.7m running total and Mexico on $6.7m retained top spot, as did Philippines, Colombia, Ukraine, Portugal, Romania, Greece and Israel.

Opening in Argentina with $874k from 206 screens, Assassin’s Creed hunted down an estimated $9.2m from its 67 markets for $149.4m.

Brazil led the holdovers with a $2m second weekend for $8m to date, while the video game adaptation has reached $15.8m in Russia, $7.7m in Mexico and $14.6m in France.

In terms of a possible sequel, which scenario is the most likely?  No sequel, a direct sequel  (as they originally planned), or a reboot with new actors/approach?

 

It would seem that the movie's boost to backlog sales and potential facilitating of mobile game sales in China will ensure that the movie was a net positive for Ubisoft, despite the low critical reception.
