That's a GREAT retention, it may be another $200m+ WW grosser in the TCU which would be unbelievable.

Around TC2's numbers ($13.6m), the first movie was extremely popular here, and this one seems to be generating tons of buzz, cinemas are doing midnight previews (and they're selling pretty well so far), and are bringing the first movie back to the screen, they must be expecting a huge breakout from this.

It's worthy mentioning that most of horror movies struggles to reach $100m WW, while each one of the TCU movies so far has reached $200m+, Warner is making history with the genre.

Numbers are looking very, very promising so far:

 

Flat in Italy

+100% over TC1/A1 in Indonesia/France

+100% over TC1/TC2/A1 in SK

Strong OD in Australia

 

At this pace, I can't see this missing $150m OS, and it has a real shot at $200m, which would be a massive result considering the reputation of the first movie and the ER.

Conjuring-universe is king among horrors.

It's going to be a really interesting battle between Annabelle and IT OS.

I enjoyed the first film, it had one moment that gave me fear goosebumps, rather than jump scares. Always a good sign.

 

Seeing this tonight and expecting more due to the good reviews.

Thursday Update: Warner Bros.’ horror prequel Annabelle: Creation has earned $4.0 million overseas. The film has opened in seven markets so far, with an additional 22 on Thursday and nine more on Friday, including the U.S.

Starting with $775 thousand in France and $456 thousand on their opening days, the film also ranks as the highest opening day ever for a horror film in Belgium, Iceland, and Singapore.

The Nun is probably aiming Annabelle 1's numbers, but if it's so well received as TC2/A:C, then it's going to increase even more the buzz for TC3.

 

TC2 was beloved in LA/Asia, it had great legs in both regions and it's in the top 10 of 2016 in several countries, by the time TC3 comes out, the ER will be a lot more favorable in LA, the potential will be enormous on that region alone.

 

So far, the sky is the limit for TCU, it's far from reaching it's peak.
