Dark Side is a major tentpole film. The requirement was an expected $100m+ domestic gross which'd be more than twice what either P+W made, and WAY more than any Bekmembatov film except Wanted. I didn't intend DuVernay's to be on that list though I just forgot to delete it And I guess Sandberg makes sense, forgot he did the second Annabelle. It is a major film for my studio and a tentpole. I am not letting someone steal the pre-Valentine's Day weekend away from me. I mean they wouldn't be "stealing" anything though, regardless of whether it's pre-filled or not anyone who wants to can still put a movie on that date. And you've made it more than clear that's when yours is coming out; not being listed before it's done doesn't keep you from putting it there. cookie
Not sure if you can really "steal" the weekend from a threequel in a franchise that's never crossed $50m in domestic gross. I mean not to self promote but there's already a video game-based sci-fi action blockbuster on the same date and (provided both get made) they're going to coexist fine. I don't have any major franchise like other players so I tend to be protective of my release dates because I rely heavily on finding the right release date so my films can do well since they don't have massive fanbases.
