goldenstate5
I haven't heard Danna's scores before, but disappointed that Newman left the project. I adored his scores for WALL-E and Finding Nemo, but we'll at least get more of him with Dory next summer.
Bishop54
A Good Dinosaur/Jurassic World drive-in combo would be amazing.

AniNate
I know you should usually take what studio execs say as puffery, but I'm really intrigued by Lasseter saying this has a "unique tone, unlike any animated film made".
kayumanggi
To be fair, you can't really judge the story based on a single clip. It's good to know though that the visuals are amazing as always.
stripe
I thought Thomas Newman was doing the score? Anyways: http://variety.com/2015/film/news/cannes-john-lasseter-on-secrets-of-toy-story-4-the-good-dinosaur-and-disneypixar-slate-1201501427/ Talking up the visuals over the story is never a good sign. In fact, he first teases about the story and then talks about the visuals. IMHO, nothing to fear about I hope this isn't a The Land before time rehash with glimpses of the original Ice Age. In Pixar I trust! Edited May 21, 2015 by stripe
goldenstate5
With Inside Out, they were never bullish about the story. In fact, Pete and Jonas gave the entire synopsis of the basic plot when they went onstage at D23 in 2013. Seems weird Lasseter would still slightly play coy about it only six months prior to release. stripe
Inside Out needed to sell very well the story because of its odd complexity. It's the same it happened with Monsters Inc. TGD is like Nemo. I remember that months before its release we only knew it was a journey of a father trying to rescue his son. Pixar was selling the great technical challenges of the movie (textures of the water, realism of some of the character designs...)
goldenstate5
2001 was ages ago but I don't remember Pixar going on press tours for two years straight trying to sell people on Monsters Inc?
AniNate
They keep their heaviest promotion for whatever's coming out next, I guess. The moment Inside Out is released I'm pretty sure they'll ramp up TGD's promotion to an acceptable level.
goldenstate5
Oh, I'm sure... it's just that they still don't seem very confident in it. It almost seems as if they're waiting to see how Jurassic World does (which is kind of ironic considering they're technically competing against it) before knowing exactly how to market this. AniNate
Talking about a "unique tone" and showing off a character-driven clip sounds like promoting the story to me. I'd say what the clip is, but it may be slightly spoiler-ish since there's no trailer out yet.

Fancyarcher
HOLY SHIT!! The teaser has to be playing at Inside Out, it only makes sense. Can't wait to see it on the big screen when I go to see Inside Out. Edited May 29, 2015 by Furiousarcher

Possibly w/ #InsideOut Sweet. No doubt it's playing w Inside Out. Very curious what kind of contrast this will have. Seems Pixar is positing this as a sort of realistic/gritty counterpart to Inside Out's bright candy colors Edited May 29, 2015 by tribefan695
goldenstate5
1:10 is shorter than the IO trailer, however it's unlikely we're getting another Pixar clip show this time around. Probably a quick premise explanation and a short clip, they'll probably release it online in the next couple weeks.
