BFI IMAX hasn't got a good seat left in the entire run there I'm seriously considering doing a 4am showing now. Even those only have the crappy side seats. upriser7
Any Thursday numbers ?
solaris
My Oppenheimer showing at the Curzon Aldgate was 70% full for a 12.40 showing. That's insane - it's normally my secret quiet time (I actually booked the afternoon off just to see it)

Jonwo
Barbie and Oppenheimer have opposite problems. Barbie has little to no PLFs while Oppenheimer has the PLFs but is limited by showtimes because of its length.
Jonwo
Although Barbie is looking to be a huge hit for WB, I think there's potential for Wonka to be a huge hit as well.
SchumacherFTW
Wonka feels like a good £50m movie for sure
Heretic
Just drove past a cinema and all I saw was pink. Don’t think I’ve ever seen so many sellouts as Barbie has this evening since at least No Way Home or even Endgame

Wouldn’t be surprised at £20m for Barbie. Thinking close to £7m OD. Oppenheimer could match Dunkirk’s £10m.
SchumacherFTW
Just got in to Central, lots of pink around, though maybe that's normal and I don't notice 😅
Jonwo
I'm not seeing Barbie for another week as I'm busy at the weekend but I'm opting for a morning showing. I would imagine anything pink related in terms of concessions is going to be very sold out. The likes of Everyman will likely have themed cocktails. Oppenheimer has a few themed drinks although I'm not sure if I'd be comfortable having a drink inspired by the atomic bomb, Edited July 21, 2023 by Jonwo
Jonwo
I imagine the dilemma for cinemas is what to cancel in favour of Barbie? I imagine Mission Impossible can't be touched and same with Elemental which might lose evening showings but not daytime showings.
Heretic
The late night business for Barbie (shows after 10pm) is mind blowing. Never seen anything like it.

The Dark Alfred
Oppenheimer is benefiting immensely from this zeitgeist. Saw a lot younger crowd tonight, who no doubt would have never bought tickets to a 3hr biopic if it wasn't for Barbenheimer. This two titles will dominate August as well. It's a shame that Empire went into administration before Barbenheimer as that would have added more to the coffers box office wise. Given its length, Oppenheimer’s late night business is very impressive. Many sellouts for it in PLFs, Vue Stratford show at 12:20am for it in Vue Xtreme is nearly sold out with a finish time close to 4am!

I've said this before but a late showing for that length of movie is a bit much especially since getting home would be a nightmare but I guess the Westfield Vues as well as the cinema is LS have the advantage of night buses and night buses, other places aren't as lucky!
