A decent weekend overall then.

This weekend: Wish, Napoleon, Love Actually and a Cliff Richard concert (😂).

I was looking at the UK release schedule earlier and outside Wonka and Aquaman, it looks dire until Christmas. At this rate Aquaman will likely do well regardless of quality purely because people are starved for something to watch. This is the worst end of year schedule in years.

It’s bleak!

I’ll probably only see Aquaman 2, Anyone But You (if it doesn’t move) and maybe Wish if my partner makes me go.

After Napoleon, the only things that actually interest me before the end of 2023 are The Boy and the Heron, Next Goal Wins, and possibly Godzilla Minus One, none of which are going to be huge at the box office.

Really makes you appreciate what Avatar brought to the table last year.

Probably the only films I’ll see for the rest of the year outside of Christmas re-releases are Wish and Wonka. Nothing else really interests me all that much. I would’ve also said Migration but like some of the previous animated films distributed by Universal that release near the end of December in the US it’s coming out around February over here.

1. Napoleon £789k

2. Hunger Games £508k

3. Saltburn £150k

4. Marvels £73k

5. Thanksgiving £69k

Pretty good for Napoleon. Probably can do £3.5-4m full opening.

Decent for Hunger Games, hopefully a sub 50% drop.

Not sure how Wish will do but tbh presales actually look decent from what I’ve seen so could be a close race for the Fri-Sun winner.
