The casting is likely going to make or break this series.

Yes. I pity any new actor who play the main trio or other iconic roles such as Snape, McGonnagall or Hagrid.

The original movie series had basically pitch-perfect casting. Danied Radcliffe IS Harry Potter. And whoever will play the next Harry will always live in the shadow of Radcliffs perfomance. Thats just the reality.

They will take their time with this, both for how close the movie saga was released and the controversies surrounding the creator of the franchise.

I expect this to drop in the lates 2020's at the minimum, maybe in 2027 at the earliest.

JK Rowling has stopped tweeting for the last couple of weeks because of the lawsuit related to the boxing lady, right? I'm sure WB would love if she could keep herself off twitter indefinitely from now on, it might actually help this series' chances.

I bet they still have not decided where the hell to take the series; we still don't know if they are going to refilm the original novels or go for original material.

After what happened with the Beast films, WB is not sure how to keep the Potter Money Train rolling.

Come to think of it, they had mixed sucess with the LOTR revivla also.

(Yes, I know that Rings of Power was shown on Amazon Prime, but it was produced by New Line, which for all intents and prposese is just a bench of WB studios.

They should go for new material with the sons of the protagonists. Retaining the feel and aesthetic of the saga. No doubt about that, the audience it's going to reject anything else.

But I doubt they have the imagination and brains to do that.

So now we are back to this being a refilming of the original novels.......

I am not sure, outside the hardcore fanbase, how much of an audience there is for this.

It would be interesting, particualry in the later novels to see a lot of stuff that had to be cut for the movies, but don't know  if that can attract the GA.
