juni78ukr
Tangled opened with 8.9m - so Disney wins over Pixarnever undstood why Abe would be popular in RussiaEveryone believed in Timur Bekhambetov power. That was the main reason besides supposedly cool visuals and action.
juni78ukr
Juni, do you have the ticket prices for Moscow, how is it outside Moscow? Because many theaters belong to the same nationwide theater chains the difference might be not significant at all. For matinees and evening shows usual prices are from 200-250 RUB ($6-7) for 2D and 300-350 RUB for 3D ($9-11). Some theaters give solid discounts for morning shows but the others don't do that at all. In Ukraine the tickets are usually cheaper but still the prices are already too high for many. Rudolf
in some old and not so popular theaters it might be cheaper. But not for much. How do they argue the same prices? That looks like old Sowjet times all over again. In 1985 a visiting academic from Novosibirsk was with us in Vienna. The thing that amazed him the most were the different prices. You could buy a TV-receiver for 1000 shillings or another for 100,000 shillings. At home all were about the same price. Now the price differencens are even bigger today. We in Western Europe don't understand that there are so little price differences. During a vacation in Cypros I found the price of a can of beer was about the same no matter where you bought it: a supermarket, a kiosk, a fast food reeestaurant or a luxury restaurant. Try that in Austria. And the price for services like a cinema ticket greatly depends on where you consume them.

Rudolf
In Austria cinema owners try to create high price tickets with extra service for additional €8 you get lounge tickets with champange, softdrinks and pop-corn included
juni78ukr
Our theaters strictly prohibit people from coming with their own food. Mostly because everything is so much cheaper outside. About a year ago a women sued a theater because they wanted her to leave for coming with some food or drink. She sued and won but that didnt changed much. Many theaters would rather lose money than drop a price. And because many people will stay out of theaters anyway they try to charge fanboys and frequent moviegoers as high as they can. Rudolf
The record for price ratio I ever encoutered for going a few meters was in China on a cruise on Yangtse-river. A can of Coke was 10 times as much on the boat than ashore. Edited June 26, 2012 by Rudolf
