juni78ukr
Everyone expected Cloud Atlas will be big. And everyone thought John Carter will clear billion RUB. But it fell short. The same about MI3. Nothing surprising here. Edited December 31, 2012 by juni78ukr

juni78ukr
Cloud Atlas? Expected?Sure. Guys from tremendously popular Matrix trilogy, fantasy elements, well-known actors. Plus strong advertising and nearly 1500 screens. From the very beginning it was positioned as a blockbuster here.
Jake Gittes
Hobbit can still make 50 and perhaps even approach 60. Holidays are up until January 8, cinemas will be packed like clockwork.

Fullbuster
Only one $40M+ ?When I created this thread my 2012 forecasts were too optimistic, so I try to be more cautious and realistic.Only 4 movies have the potential to pass $40m IMO : Oz, Monsters University, Iron Man 3 and The Hobbit 2.And it's unlikely all of them will pass this threshold.I think the Russian BO will have a good growth in 2013, but this growth will be more widespread, so we won't have records or anything like that, but we'll have more movies beyond $20m or $30m. So Hollywood will be happy Edited January 1, 2013 by Fullbuster

Fullbuster
and The Last Stand? To be honest I didn't know this movie, but given Russians like action movies I can see it around 18m, like Olive.
Fake
Life of Pi should do significantly more than 13m.
Fullbuster
Life of Pi should do significantly more than 13m.It's Russia and it's not an action/animated movie, so I try to be cautious on that one.
Fullbuster
I expect $8m for Les Misérables but it's really a guess, I have no idea of its potential there, are Russians like musicals?
Fullbuster
I said $35m for Oz because Russians like this kind of movie, it can surprise us, I'm really optimistic about it.

juni78ukr
I wish someone would have numbers this week. But still nothing. Some people say Life of Pi is doing pretty good but still far from any significant breakout. Overall grosses are not bad but they are spreading between six or seven movies. And most of them are local films. Edited January 2, 2013 by juni78ukr
juni78ukr
According to kinometro both Hobbit and Pi grossed slightly less than 2m yesterday. Around 29m total by now. Cant see more than 45-47m final gross.
