Russia Box Office

No, it's an animated movie for kids.

Wall-E wasn't for lovers of sci-fi, Toy Story was not just for kids with toys, The Incredibles wasn't for superheroes fans....Pixar movies are for everyone.

It's in college, but it's clearly for kids, my sister wants to watch it and she's in high school...

Anyone here think supes could get 40-50M in Russia?

Yeah movies in Russia usually have a 2.1-2.2 multiplier at the most and to be honest superhero movies usually don't do blockbuster biz in Russia (although they do well e.g. TDKR=17 mill Thor 16 mill, TASM 21 mill).

I think a 13-14 mill finish for MOS is possible and that's pretty good considering that it's a reboot and it's going up against an animated film (usually do well in Russia even if Pixar does less than other companies).

The worst case scenario should  be around 20m.

thx!

would be great!

it has to beat that crap Hangover 3.

haha that site i checked abt that nysm 17 mil numbers said Mos will have a 13mil weekend :)

well everything can happen...

still think MU has a better chance being a family movie

Impossible. Iron Man 3 grossed 23m OW and got 44m in the end.

7m OW in Russia would mean 15m total!

Still, that would big compared to Superman Returns ($1.7m total).

So, Kinometro is forecasting that MU will win the battle  :o And with less theaters too.

MU: ~$7.472M

MOS: ~$6.226M

I'm very curious and interested in how it'll turn out now  :)

Disney can be happy for MU, it will pass 15m so it's not bad at all, and personnally I expect more from it :)

Are there any particular reasons why he thinks that?

Superheroes movies are more successful in big cities (Moscow and Saint-Petersburg) than in small towns and rural areas.

Animated movies work better in these small towns.

We have the same trend in France.

Still, the Moscow area is very important in Russia, around 33% of Russia's GDP!

I think MOS will be close to or even over $10m, or at least hit TDKR OW numbers. I mean, it's a superhero 3D tentpole playing on 1700 screens. If it has a PTA less than $5k that'll be absolutely embarrassing.

Yeah, TDKR had no 3D and MOS would do less? Embarrassing indeed!
