One of the strongest post-Covid weekends, and yet, only nine releases >10k admissions. Deadpool opened within expectations (on the lower end, really) while the family releases had increases. The surprise was domestic crime comedy Zwei zu Eins, fine success! Bad Boys 4 crossed 1mil total, congratulations - still not good.

Once again, Austria had  similar rankings (with the exception of the German comedy which got very little love here) but higher numbers - Deadpool was at nearly 100k (97.626) after the weekend. So, the "Golden Ticket" (300k total) is within reach I'd say, while Germany's corresponding "Goldene Leinwand" (3mil total) seems like a hopeless case. The family releases are also at higher totals: DM4 249k, IO2 488k (a small chance at 600k total, the "Platinum Ticket"). Even the floppy Twisters is doing a little better in Austria, and BB4 is at 136k total.

Next weekend: Two wide openers - The Day the Earth Blew Up for families and Shyamalan's Trap. This week's Top 3 should stay the same but the Loony Tunes movie has a chance at #4 I'd say - we've seen that there's room enough for multiple family releases. Shyamalan still has some fans but presales are nearly zero at my cinema, doesn't bode well.

Do you know what was the biggest total weekend since COVID?

I am more impressed with Deadpool's hold. Its a SH movie and is dropping just over 20% in its 2nd weekend. Phenomenal.

in summer, holds depend more on weather conditions than quality, but at least we're looking at a good weekend again, cinemas are in dire need of that.

As an aside, D&W is doing fine but if you're looking at other countries, it's doing much, much better (France, Italy) -  in admissions, they're doubling Germany's. Ceterum censeo, tickets are to expensive in German-speaking regions.

I can't find it right now, but someone on the insidekino forum had a list of the average ticket price in Germany vs Italy vs France and it was 3-4€ more than those countries. That is an insane difference and shows the tickets cost is just way too high here.

Germany's wages are way higher than Italy's.

Thanks to the three holdover hits, one more strong weekend, but the openers disappointed and there were only 10 releases >10k admissions. Excellent holds across the chart (but in most cases, from low levels)!

In Austria, a nearly identical chart (except for Zwei zu Eins) but with higher numbers again (family releases even with increases).

Next weekend: Longlegs (a thriller - it's been a while) and kiddie movie 200% Wolf will be the widest openers but this week's Top3 will stay safe. Weather looks fine throughout the week and weekend so expect some steeeep drops :(

Can expect 3M from DP3.

it's possible but depends very much on weather conditions ... last week's hold was excellent; sunny weather will lead to much steeper drops so it's difficult to predict. But 3mil are still possible, that's good news!

that would be:

DxW -38%

DM4 -38%

IO2 - 27%

Those are better drops than I feared, especially IO2!

when does It ends With Us release in Germany?

I though it’d be everywhere in Europe this weekend.

Next Thursday, August 15.

At least in the Mathäser I couldn't find EA shows so probably the Thursday is indeed the first day.

my local Kinopolis had EA screenings 2 days ago on Wednesday as "Lady-Kino". All screenings were like 80%-85% full.
