Turned 50 this past dec. BTW thanks for bringing them up. I will try and find their movies for my collection.

Three new releases in the Top3, and "Sisters" didn't open too shabbily either. But of course Deadpool's opening overshadowed everything else, truly sensational. And it didn't even seem very frontloaded, so expect a good 2nd weekend again, with maybe a slight expansion! 2,5mil total are easily possible and maybe it has a chance at 3mil. Among holdovers, B&T3 managed a slight increase and has now passed the totals of parts 1 and 2 with a lot of mileage left it seems, 2mil total are still the goal. Revenant with a very nice hold once more, and SW7 has stabilized over the last weeks and I'm very optimistic that it can indeed reach 9mil total! Next weekend: From the hollywood POV, the most interesting openers are probably Zoolander2 (nobody asked for that one it seems) and Hail, Caesar! but the more interesting question is how much Deadpool will fall - I'm hoping for a drop around 25%.
IndustriousAngel
Thursday numbers indicate an overall ok weekend with a nice drop for Deadpool (but will probably be steeper than my hoped-for 25%) Edited February 18, 2016 by IndustriousAngel
el sid
The Thursday estimates via insidekino.de (forum): And it's really not looking good for most of the new releases: Hail, Caesar!: 7.5k (Edit: first I thought this is not a good start given the many interviews I read and the fine reviews but it started in only 156 theaters, so it's pretty ok) Colonia Dignidad: 7k (pretty much what was expected but with D. Brühl as a leading actor it should have gotten more attention too) The Boy: 6k (could have been worse) Zoolander 2: 3k (really bad) Concussion: 2.5k (oh boy) Reviews did probably neither help nor hurt because none of the new movies was highly praised or doomed by critics: Zoolander 2 and The Boy have mostly lukewarm reviews, Concussion has good ones but not overwhelming and about Colonia Dignidad there's no consensus - some critics say it's a very exciting film with good actors, other criticize that it's too insubstantial. Holdovers: Deadpool: 84k (last Thursday (actual numbers): 110k, a very good hold) Dirty Grandpa: 12k (l.T. 30k, so not a good hold) Tschiller: Off Duty: 2k (l. T.: 10k, terrible) The Hateful Eight: 18k (l. T. 25k) The Revenant: 10.5k (l. T.: 17.5k) Edit 2: According to the actual Thursday numbers it looks much worse for Deadpool („only“ 65k), and better for Hail, Caesar! (11.5k) and Dirty Grandpa (17k). The rest looks like posted yesterday. Edited February 19, 2016 by el sid
IndustriousAngel
I think that's an ok number for Hail!Caesar. As to ColoniaDignidad - well, it's a difficult theme and nobody buys a ticket just for Daniel Brühl (see 5th estate; Ich&Kaminski). The real downer is Zoolander2 but as I mentioned, this was a movie nobody has been asking for. But even considering this, it's a real floppy flop. IndustriousAngel
First trend for Germany from insidekino: #1: Deadpool - 525k admissions (-25%, yeah) #2: DirtyGP - 175k (-40%) #3/4/5: family films with 100k each the openers: Hail!Caesar should open to >90k admissions, might even make it into the Top5 - very good for a limited arthouse release! The Boy: about 80k for the weekend, ok number I'd say Colonia Dignidad: 65k - maybe a bit below expectations but basically ok Zoolander2 is estimated at 45k admissions, this is worse than bad.

Deadpool was inflated by VD, though. Edited February 19, 2016 by Poseidon

IndustriousAngel
Dirty Grandpa is showing a lot of staying power, goes up with every estimate - seems to have super WOM ... Deadpool's number is very good, too, even if 30% is a bit harder than I hoped.

Caesar and turkish Osman Pazarlama) had very high PTAs and should be considered as successes. Among holdovers, Deadpool had a very nice drop and it seems that it's performing more along comedy lines than superhero - will probably end near 2,7mil total. H8 crossed 1mil total, at least something. B&T3 crossed 1,5mil, 2 mil are still possible! SW7 dropped a bit harder than I had hoped, 9mil total are looking hard atm but I won't dismiss it yet. Next weekend: The latest Schweighöfer comedy, "Der geilste Tag", should at least make it to #2 of the charts; #1 will be difficult if Deadpool keeps up the soft drops. Nothing new for families, so expect good drops for family stuff.

George Parr
All the top movies apart from Deadpool stayed equal or went up, nice. Seeing how the trend also includes TFA with 27.5k for the weekend I think it might be time to take another look at the quest for 9 million: The movie stood at 8.874 million, add 27.5k and it's slight above 8.9 million, without last weeks weekdays. The week before saw the weekdays at about 15k, so the weekdays should probably be somewhere between 7-10k, putting TFA at around 8.91 million. Sadly there are no comparable numbers for LOTR 2 & 3, as the chart only lasted ten weeks and this is the eleventh. That only leaves last years other big movies as comparison. I'd say the week-total for this weekend + the following weekdays should be a bit above 30k if the current trend holds. Spectre had 30.5 for the same week and followed that up with another 42k so far, might reach 50k in the end. FjG2 had 36.7k for the 11th week and added slightly less than 60k afterwards. That would put TFA at somewhere between 8.96 and 8.975 million at the end of its run. The lower end would be right at the level of Episode I. I guess it won't make it to 9 million after all. Though it should eventually get past that number with any double-features for Episode VIII.
IndustriousAngel
"Der geilste" Tag did win the weekend in Germany (340k admissions on the proper weekend), DP 320k, Grandpa 165. In Austria, Grandpa took the lead with a less-than-10%-drop; Deadpool still #2 (drops more than 40%) and "Der geilste Tag" #3; german comedies often don't do that well here in Austria. I'll probably not update for 2 weeks since I'm just taking off for China
