Sam
IndustriousAngel, what do you think MOS will finish with in dollars?
IndustriousAngel
In Germany? After the opening I thought 10mil US$ were possible but with this week's drop that's nearly out of reach. Germany + Austria, still very doable. At least, it's up a lot from SR.

WWZ still strong with the "best" hold in a bloody weekend at the boxoffice. MU simply got slaughtered. After some weeks with strong openers, the coming weekend will see fewer changes in the charts - only lower profile thrillers "The Call" and "Now You See me" plus German comedy "Systemfehler" are opening (semi-)wide; I expect at least decent business from all 3 but the Top 2 of this week's chart should stay the same, and with good WOM maybe "The Heat" can stay #3 too. IndustriousAngel
Beautiful summer weather, so no hope on the horizon for theaters ... (otoh, open air film festivals should do great, though most of them haven't started yet, because of yet long daylight)
Leyla
so i was right not to expect anything big 4 nysm from Germany will be sad if its less than 1 mil tho Edited July 10, 2013 by Leyla
IndustriousAngel
so i was right not to expect anything big 4 nysm from Germany will be sad if its less than 1 mil tho I wouldn't write it off before it has even opened - if the US market is any indication, WOM can carry this film quite far. There's no direct competition from similar movies in the near future, so it has its segment of the audience for its own.

IndustriousAngel
Friday trend for Germany: #1: DM2 - 525k admissions (same as last week, a good sign) #2: NYSM - 175k (okay opening, better than expected anyway, and it seems to be a leggy film) #3: WWZ - 150k #4: TH - 115k

IndustriousAngel
Yep I thought WWZ would stay #2 but it's dropping, while most everything else stays flat, and NYSM is opening higher than expected. This may be thanks to a very mediocre start from the other openers; neither "Systemfehler" nor "The Call" seem to crack 50k for the weekend. IndustriousAngel
final trend: Weather is better than expected; accordingly drops are bigger and openings softer ... another bloody weekend for Germany's BO
Heretic
Exact same thing in UK. BO is getting slaughtered. But films will rebound eventually.

lab276
So what is the biggest movie of the year in Germany?Django. And it'll probably be the biggest in the calendar year, but I expect The Hobbit 2 to overtake it in total gross.
