lab276
That's comparing TS's first full week with TS2's first weekend. Not directly comparable.I hate how The Smurfs and Toy Story abbreviate the same way.

Good drops all around except for MU which got hit hardest by the blue guys. Paulette increased in Germany and opened only this weekend in Austria as happens sometimes with smaller productions; with maybe an expansion and only one wide opener I can see it staying in the Top 10 a while longer. The coming weekend sees "The Lone Ranger" riding into Germany's theaters; I've virtually no idea how high it can go - there's still the Depp-factor - but I'm not even sure it can take the #1 spot. Even if Germany's nr.1 for 2013 is a western - Django was a phenomenon, and I don't think TLR can come anywhere near. Btw, weather looks a bit rainier than the last weeks, so we might see a general upwards trend in admissions and some very soft drops or even increases - keeping my fingers crossed.
Leyla
great drops for TH & nysm Im gonna watch that Paulette movie, found it @ 1 of the arthouse theaters Good luck for TLR, money needed Edited August 8, 2013 by Leyla
IndustriousAngel
Paulette is hilarious, saw it last week, but the audience seems to be very limited (we were the youngest in the audience and I'm 45 ) . highly recommended! (As I read the first synopsis; I thought it was just a french remake of "Saving Grace" but it's really different, even if some themes are the same)
Fullbuster
Grown-ups 2 is pretty surprising. American comedies seem pretty successful in Germany.
IndustriousAngel
Grown-ups 2 is pretty surprising. American comedies seem pretty successful in Germany. Well yes, but if you compare it to GU1, it's at about half the admissions, so not very surprising - not poor either since GU2 got hit by the weather same as every film, just completely in line with expectations considering the circumstances. lab276
I thought The Heat would do a lot better than it did.
IndustriousAngel
I thought every summer film would do better than they actually did ... and I'm a bit scratching my head because, while beautiful outdoor weather is always bad for theaters here, the last weeks were so hot it really isn't much fun cycling or walking or BBQing or whatever, except swimming. Ice cream sellers are complaining about the heat because the streets are empty; they do less business than usual in summer. I would think that a cool theater would be a much preferrable afternoon or evening choice but obviously people rather stay at home.
Heretic
This summer has been so hot in Europe, especially July. Germany, France and the UK have all suffered hugely it seems.

lab276
Is there any chance DM2 passes TH3 to become the second biggest movie of the year?
peludo
Is there any chance DM2 passes TH3 to become the second biggest movie of the year? I would say yes. Looking at similar weekends of both movies we have this (BOM numbers): The Hangover 3 (4th weekend): 1.693 million - 26.744 million cume (-37.2%) Despicable me 2 (5th weekend): 1.867 million - 27.321 cume (-33.7%) DM2 has a better weekend, a better cume and a better drop. The difference is not very high but I think it should be enough to outgross TH3.
