Any suggestion how to translate Grießnockerlaffäre? Those german  titles are killing me.

An affair concerning Grießnockerl (local dish, a kind of semolina dumplings you put in a soup - all the titles in the series are about local food even if it plays no big part in the actual proceedings). In this case it's a love affair; as in englisgh it might also imply something sinister so a fitting title for a crime comedy.

Yep, I had to adjust the thread title :)

In Austria, Apes had a very close victory in front of Grießnockeraffäre!

7 releases with more than 100k admissions - that's not bad, but overall attendance might have been better, especially for the leader. The top three ranks on the chart are held by 3rd parts of the respective franchises, while #4 is the 4th in the series of Rita Falk crime adaptions. Despicable Me 3 is now the Top 2017 release in Germany!

Next weekend: After two weekends crammed with attractive openers, we get some relief for holdovers - the biggest opener will be The Dark Tower and after lukewarm reviews and general disinterest (the book is not that much of a bestseller in Germany) I can't see it topping the chart; DM3 should return to #1. Weather looks good for the movies (less so for the open air shows which get more and more popular as witnessed by the return of some long-running releases into the charts, like this week's GotG or BatB).

weeeeell, opening day for Dark Tower here and presales are about 40 seats total for the 4 shows today. While there's no doubt there'll be considerable walk-in business (rather drizzly weather) this doesn't look too good ... 2017's list of worse-than-expected openers is getting longer and longer, in this summer only DM3 worked really well (among the wannabe-blockbusters).

Unfortunately the estimates are not available today.
The Dark Tower had pretty low reservation numbers till today but then they improved thanks to the bad weather. In Bavaria it rains since the early afternoon and other reports from other states are similar. I had the feeling that some time ago there was a certain buzz around this film but the short playtime and the modest reviews are well known here (and German critics are not very happy with it too - but also don't hate it).
Grießnockerlaffäre gets more copies this week (I have no exact number but filmstarts.de says it plays in 156 theaters today which would be a plus of ca. 50% and maybe it will expand again tomorrow) and seems to have a good hold according to several reports.
The other holdovers should also have nice holds, at least Mark_G from insidekino.de counts on a weekend with at a max -25% for the holdovers of the Top 10 (which includes Dunkirk, Valerian and Baby Driver) and even a little plus for DM3 and other family films (probably because of the school holidays in almost every state and the lousy weather).

yep, DM3 should go up with no competition for the kids.

Grießnockerl played in 155 locations last weekend (see chart) so a 50% expansion would bring it to over 200 but I don't know if this will lead to a plus in admissions - in those regions where the series is a hit, it's already playing to saturation, so the expansion concerns mostly northern cities where it isn't that popular.

No first trend so far but some Thursday actuals (source Blickpunkt:Film, school holidays in 79% of the country, weather was much worse than last Thursday):
New Releases:
The Dark Tower: 30k (released in 506 theaters, mediocre reviews between mostly 4 and 6.5/10, overall not good enough to cause interest) - Blickpunkt:Film sees a 200k admissions OW but probably Mark_G is more pessimistic
Der Stern von Indien: 5k (98, overall pretty good reviews)
Der Wein und der Wind: 5k (90, good reviews)

Holdovers:
DM 3: 50k (50k) - flat!
War for the Planet of the Apes: 30k (45k) – ok
Ostwind 3: 35k (35k) - also flat!
Grießnockerlaffäre: 30k (22k) – nice and of course you're right IndustriousAngel, it played in 155 theaters

No other holdovers mentioned but they should have good holds too.
Again terrible weather here in Bavaria.
