Fullbuster
With Jurassic World 2 coming soon it's essential to remind what happened with the first one: -Grossed $29.1m in Brazil -Grossed R$90.7m in local currency -Got 6.2 million admissions It released when the exchange rate started to enter the dangerous phase of being too high, at that time $1 = R$3.1 but now $1 = R$3.6 so it'll need quite an increase in lc to pass JW1 in USD.
Humbgul
Hey @Fullbuster. This is the latest info I could find about the number of theaters/cinemas/screens in Brazil: https://g1.globo.com/pop-arte/cinema/noticia/sao-paulo-abriga-13-das-salas-de-cinema-do-pais.ghtml The numbers are from 2015, and according to G1/ANCINE we had 3160 screens back in that year. We're probably close to 3500 now, hopefully. I couldn't find anything about the number of theaters though. Also in 2015 only 383 of the 5570 municipalities had at least 1 theater/cinema, a small jump from 2013. The state of São Paulo alone has over 1/3 of all the screens in the country. That would mean the country is on the way to beat France and South Korea in admissions, which was bound to happen given Brazil is much more populated but still it's a bumpy rise but still a rise The admission grew so much especially starting 2009, the admission nearly double within 10 years! Suggest that Titanic's all time highest admission record are in danger in Brazil..... Isn't it IW is now threatening Jaw in term of admission?

Firty shade of grey and the fault in our star made 31m in brazil, twilight finale was at 54m, all these number in brazil are so huge in relative to their worldwide and USA number, all these suggest that brazilian have also some extra affection with romance, that could explain why titanic, when blended with special blockbuster action driven effect, gained so much in brazil. Assuming that 2001's total admission of 75m to 1998, titanic's 17m admission shows that a jaw-dropping 23% of movie-going was meant for titanic on that year! The same insanity also applied to china, 25% of the box office gross was contributed by titanic alone in 1998 in china. 1

Napoleon
Economy experts are predicting the ER will collapse and the dollar will go over R$ 5,30 that's terrible for the movie grosses in USD. And with millions of people going back to poverty and everything being more and more expensive attendance will also drop for sure. Dark times are coming. My family company is struggling and we will have to cut a lot of jobs which is heartbreaking.

I really hope you're not trying to spread fake news because you're bitter about Dilma being ousted, you'd lose respect and credibility. Yes, things are worsening but it's far from being the disaster you're talking about from what I've read here and there: Brazil's biggest bank downgrades growth forecast BRASILIA, June 8 (Xinhua) -- Brazil's biggest bank, Itau, on Friday downgraded its economic growth forecast for 2018 from 2 percent to 1.7 percent, citing the crippling truckers' strike in May and financial problems. The bank also downgraded next year's forecast, from 2.8 percent to 2.5 percent. The revised economic projections "take into account recent financial troubles and some impact of the strike on growth in 2018," the bank's chief economist Mario Mesquita said in a report. http://www.xinhuanet.com/english/2018-06/09/c_137241029.htm
Fullbuster
As for the exchange rate wow, it went from $1 =R$3.9 on Thursday (WTF, almost an all-time low) to R$3.70 this Friday! The Brazilian Central Bank intervened but I'm not sure it'll be enough. The ER could go either way, but it reaching the worst level ever (beyond R$4.1) cannot be excluded now. The effect on movies would be crazy o_o Remember that The Force Awakens had to go through this: it grossed R$109m but it converted to $29m only, in 2011 it would give it more than $60m! manny1234
Man the ER that could get worse by going to 4. Also Fullbuster I have to admit because of you having profile pics of Anime girls and cuteness I always thought you were a female until when I clicked on you are actually a male. Ahaha yeah, I guess some are confused but it just means I love women and anime and what is cute that's all 😛 As for the ER the forecasts expect R$3.9 in December but if the Brazilian election goes wrong it could easily go higher than 4, we're in the danger zone. Yes, but probably not before the 2020s because if The Avengers IW cannot be close to 20 millions then no movie can reach this for a while lol. It's promising though that's for sure It's now close to France, South Korea and jpaan in admissions and will pass them by 2020.
