Not nearly enough data to judge how good or bad this second day is, but based purely on perception it seems another nice day. Assuming a similar pace of 48 tickets sold per day (which I don't think it will happen) for the next 5 days would put this at 88% of Guardians 3 at T-06 which is pretty good IMO given the different nature of the franchises.

1.92M admissions this weekend, with R$42.82M on the box office.

GotG 3 had the second best opening of the year, slightly above Wakanda Forever but bellow Thor L&T and DS2, however it did saw the best opening of the franchise by a good margin and it is the movie no. 9 to sell 1 million tickets. Evil Dead Rise will also join the club soon, it has also entered this year's top 10.

Mario, despite the drop, remains strong and it is now officially the top movie of the year - and it will probably remain like this for a while. The rest of the list saw bad drops, with a special shout out to the awful second week of Knights of the Zodiac and The Ring 4, gotta be some of the worsts second weeks holds of all time.

Next weekend, it will release Barraco em Família, Origin of Evil, No Bears, Love Again, Mafia Mamma and Book Club 2.

March was the first month that showed a decrease over last year, not helped by the underperformance of Shazam. John Wick 4 barely took the lead of the month, with Scream VI very close to it. On the other hand, with Mario april is guaranteed to go back into profit.

Thanks to Mario april managed to return the year-to-year increase. Despite that, brazilian market share for local movies this year is at only 3.6%, things remain apocaliptic for brazilian movies. Next month is a huge test since DS2 was the 8th best selling movie of all time and that lead to the second best month of 2022, GotG 3 is not coming close to that, so it is up to Fast X and The Little Mermaid to make up for it.

I'm kinda concerned on this for the whole Latam region. I feel like there's stuff coming everywhere from Mexico to Argentina but streaming is taking over local industry and stuff that could've been bankable is going straight to Netflix or Prime Video.

Hollywood-side recovery is good but it's truly a bummer to see local films failing to even get to theatres and missing those numbers. Is anything like that in here or is more related to films and distribution itself?

I feel the problem is a bit deep, starting with the problems with distribution and resources that do not allow the movies to get proper marketing, but streaming and the lack of compeling titles might also be a problem. Truth is, in this Instagram era where most of the famous lost stars are content creators, that old strategy of selling movies solely on the image of those stars just isn't working anymore.

In some places, I think there’s a problem for local prodction that they don’t have the super movie franchise, even the film is succeed,is just the succeed of one single film, like Japan has Mario and Godzilla,Uk has Bond and Harry Potter,US has Superhero…All of these are Super successful IP,their influence is combined by everything and have insane strong fanbase, not just the single movie’s power

There is also the fact that most brazilian movies that go to theaters are absolute garbage, at least IMO. I think good quality movies like Tropa de Elite would still do great, but all we have are terrible comedies and stupid youtubers movies.

So... the expected drop finally came today, next 2 days will probably see similar numbers to today and then it will start to increase into the final push. Theaters seem confident, since it was added 5 more showings since yesterday.

Yeah they added more showings here as well. In a few days I'll get back into tracking, but right now I can tell that 2 of the four chains need to catch up while the other two are close to outsell the last day of Guardians 3.

Yeah, there is one particular theater here that is selling very well and others much behind. But overall I think this will do pretty good.

Well... great day for Fast X! I thought this would do similar numbers to yesterday, but it actually managed to grow above Day-2 of sales. Tomorrow is the first day of comp with Guardians, but this is very likely going to be at somewhere in 80's% of Guardians sales at T-06.
