Puss' OD in Japan is terrible. It's looking like 1/7th (or less because my guess would be the rurals are doing even worse in comparison) of Doraemon's 3rd friday. Will be #8 on first friday despite schools aka its primary target being off. Worse than even shazam.

Whose fault is that? Distribution or japanese taste?

Japan doesn't like dreamworks and hollywood has declined over the years in Japan so no surprises I guess. It was always an uphill battle. But I don't like the release date either. I guess they picked it because schools are off right now but you end up sandwiched in between Doraemon and Conan and it's opening on the same week as 2 big local films so not many screens either.

 

Still this is abysmal. Even matching the original in yen is probably completely off the cards.

Even if it gross like 10 milion I think it should be enough to reach 500M, let's hope...

Eh. Original puss is at 1.17b => 8M usd or so now.

 

Considering schools are off weekend will jump but I don't see it jumping super hard. 50k admits for 65M 3days might be the optimistic (?) target here.  1st one opened to 150M in 2 days.

 

Unless I'm wrong and for some reason sat jumps super hard even 5M will be rough.
