Billion was guaranteed no matter where it released. IMAX is not as important for kids movies. On top of that, it would have summer weekdays which is an advantage it would not have in April. The WOM and IP strength was too good for it to not make a billion. Exhibitors would’ve kept it on screens. If released on Spider-Verse’s date, Mario’s second weekend would’ve beat Transformers OW and third weekend beats Elemental and possibly Flash OW

The rest of the world has some scattered here and there, and Italy in particular has 5 and apart from those who live nearby no one has ever heard of them Edited June 28, 2023 by MG10

Valonqar
yep it's passing 700M unless there's some crazy drop in screens due to MI and Barbenheimer. Edited July 2, 2023 by Valonqar

Bobzaruni
French BO taking a hit might have had/continue to have a slight impact on this weekend and days going forward since its the 5th biggest market. That might explain the 20%~ diff. in hold between weekdays and weekends (even though that's more likely due to opening in SK last weekend)
Bobzaruni
35% holds will get it to 300M OS in 3 weeks with anything after that being a bonus, effectively. Even if it slightly goes over 35%, legs after the next 3 weeks could make it crawl there. I'd say it's as close to locked as can be barring a really bad drop in the next 2 weeks.
