The movie is really good.  Theater was filled with a mix of people of all ages.  A solid 3 out of 4 stars.

Inside Out 2 looking to be massive is hardly a surprise given both the enduring popularity of the first and crossover appeal between multiple demos (while not quite the 13-14 year gaps that Finding Dory/Incredibles II saw from their predecessors, 9 years means the kids who saw the original in theaters are now in their teens to early 20s).

Wouldn't be any question about a sequel's potential if there wasn't the whole "streaming conditioning" narrative and the general suckage of box office the last year. But both Pixar and Dreamworks franchises have shown themselves to still be draws now.

 

I just hope people will begin showing up to their originals/new IP in a reasonably proportionate way

That movie's existence is so annoying because it will always cause debates regarding animation records and no one will ever agree on a clear #1 in the way everyone agrees Avatar is #1. I wish that movie could've just came, fucked off, and died.
